It is year two of establishing the culture. If it’s year 1 then wtf were you doing last year?

It’s 6 months into a rebuild, only difference is now you control your draft pick.

I mean, I can see what he's saying that last year was such a year of flux, you couldn't possible establish anything.

Ideally this year will have 95% less roster flux, same players in and out the same day, that you can establish more.

Lmfao we missed the playoffs last 3 of 4 years but this is year 1 of the rebuild.

Basically saying this is the first year we start fresh....Last year FO was stuck in a pickle...Trying to get FVV back was their plan to compete with OG/Siakam/FVV/Yak...Thats why we gave up the steep price we did to bring in Yak....Because Masai wanted to show to FVV that hes serious about winning here so FVV will stay during FA....Even the fans turned on FVV at that point Masai always wanted Fred back...

FVV bolted to Rockets which screwed up FO plan so they pivoted to Schroder hoping that he could replace a little bit what FVV brought which was a big time flop as well ....FO tried to compete last year from the start but ended up falling flat on their faces when we started the year off badly...

Had all the Siakam/OG drama as well last offseason and bunch of trade rumors....

I think this is the first year Darko and the FO feel like its a new era here and we can try and win but development will be more important and hey if we end up starting bad we are not afraid to play the draft....

Hell, it's the 1st training camp under Darko for the entire rotation except for Barnes, Gradey and Yak plus adding in 2 just drafted players.

I mean you can just compare the opening day roster last year to the team now and see what he’s saying

The roster overturn is a very fair point.

He was brought into change the culture last year though. That was a huge part of his introduction to the Raptors organization and fan base. I’d hope progress was made, and I truly believe it was so I don’t think he’s starting from scratch as this tweet implies.

major trades last year ... season was a write off. IQ, RJ off court stuff. Poeltl, Barnes injured. None of these guys played together.
even if he bought himself 6 months who cares .. its a fresh start next season with a clear vision.

Not sure what's so hard to grasp.

Three of those four years we were rebuilding around a Pascal OG core and we didn't know who would stay (Fred being one of those pieces that leaving pushed us in a different direction). Last year we hired Darko and did a teardown.

This is Darko first year coaching a team that he actually will have a roster that isn't in major flux and unsure of its direction. The direction is now incredibly clear.

Scottie is the core piece that we building around. Quickley is his long term running mate. And we have a bunch of young guys that we will work hard to make into core pieces.

One could argue that last year was the true start of the rebuild, but I totally fine calling it the teardown year and this start of the new era.

we also added a bunch of rookie scale players in mitchell, ochai, 3-4 rookies in addition to Dick

Not a fan of Darko and his coaching style.

I find him to be obnoxious a lot of the time.

Last year was a chaos, this year we got stability on the roster.
