OT: Thank you and goodbye maybe

Post#1 » by vulture » Mon Aug 19, 2024 2:58 am

So I came to Toronto in 1990 and watched Hakeem on TV for the first time. it was mesmerizing and I just fell in love with the game. I’ve been a poster in this forum for over 20 years so it is with great sadness that I share that my cancer treatment has not gone well. I’m not sure how long I have, but there is a tremendous amount of gratitude coming from me.

I worked for MLSE for 6 years (2014-2020), held various positions and it was an absolute dream to be there. I poured everything into those 6 years. It’s still surreal that I got to experience a championship.

The last 3 years took a turn for the worst where my love of 7 years passed away and dealing with the grief I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. After extensive treatment I am at the end of the line. It’s hard to explain the resignation that I feel at the moment.

I just want you to thank all of you for the great basketball discussions because I love this game so much and it brings me so much joy.
I also apologize for being irritable the past few years.

Thank you for being a fan and sharing your journey with us (both the highs and low). I’m sorry to hear about your wife; my condolences. Life is bigger than this game we all love and I’m grateful to had shared these moments with all of you. I hope it isn’t the end for you but it is completely understandable if you were irritable for all these years. I Can’t imagine what you are and (still are) going through so it isn’t my place to judge. If anything, this is a great place to vent and to temporarily escape our troubles; it’s nothing personal. We don’t know what anyone’s truly going through. Thank you for sharing your joy with us while you are still here Vulture. I’m grateful for you sharing your experiences and perspective on here. Life is so much bigger than this game.

You and I have gone back and forth over on discussions and I enjoy the perspective you bring here.

The fight is there but I’m hoping for a miracle.

Well, that's an unfortunate outcome vulture, but know that while this is just a online forum, you've been a valuable part of it for the entire time. Never say never, but all said I'm sure you're under-sharing the situation. If it's not here, until next time.

Sorry to hear about what you've been going through. I have respected your opinions and insights even if I haven't always agreed. I can tell that you know your stuff. Awesome that you were able to be involved with the team during the best stretch we've ever had. Your contributions here have been meaningful. Peace and blessings going forward.
