lol pretty bad. His much touted athleticism looked pretty average on the court and he had no real skills outside of hustle and defense which didn’t translate statistically.

Let’s talk about Sonny Weems though! I liked his game.

Pop Sow was very raw. Guys like him were brought in as projects. He did have a good euro career I believe.

how about Mamadou N'Diaye while we are at it, and I totally didnt realize there was a player of the same name drafted in 2016 as well.

I think we can all agree we collectively had a Sonny > DeMar phase. Money Weems baby!

My favourite "it's deep in the off-season" type thread of the year!

We've Never been as deep in the offseason as this. I'm not sure you could go deeper.

I think a good question would be is there any pre 2012 Raptor scrub, that you think could be quite a bit better in this current era (say a decent starter). Nothing immediately jumps to mind to me.

I think you should start a similar, separate thread for Sonny Weems.

And posters should randomly think of other past Raptors and start threads about, how would they do now. A great way to keep the board active

This is hilarious because i swear i was on of them. I just remember Sonny looking really good and actually thinking he may be better then DeMar. It wasnt until one moment, i witnessed Demar get possessed by the mamba mentality that settled it for me. There was one game raps were down atleast 30-40points some crazy like that. Whole team looked terrible, then sometime must of been during the second half i seen Demar just fix his face and drive to the basket and just dunked the ball or had a crazy finish. Then rest of the game he just drove and finshed at the basket. Think he ended up with like 37. They still lost by a tonne but I think that the moment it clicked for him cuz from then on, he played aggressive and started to take strides to being the teams best scorer. This was even before he had the mid range. - With all that being said i think i do remeber weems being a way better shooter at the time. Weems was actually money that probably contributed to me thinking he was actually better

Guys like Weems and Alan Anderson had statistically comparable seasons to Demar in the early days. Demar was getting lit up on here for being an inefficient scorer who did nothing else well, with bad defence.

What if we have kapono in today's nba (and we have a better coach)

I still remember how wonderful Dell Curry was for us.

Wrong question. The real question is how these former Raptors will perform in today's NBA.
