OT: Ads between topics
Has this always been there or did my ad blocker for Chrome finally give in to RealGM's demands?

Re: OT: Ads between topics
Yeah since yesterday I have these weird black boxes between threads that I can't seem to get rid of. And I have Adblocker. Hopefully it goes away soon! Really annoying!

Chromes changes from manifest v2 to v3 are basically breaking tons of ad blockers permanently. They've been making changes for a while but only pushing the changes recently and rolling it out slowly (IIRC).

FWIW I don't see those (yet) and I use ublock origin which is widely regarded as the best for chromium browsers, but that will also eventually break. Your best bet is using a browser like Firefox, or Brave moving forward. FF still has v2 support with no plans to deprecate. All extensions should work there too, since they are all based off chromium.

Props TZ!

I switched to duckduckgo browser and it's been working well.
Only thing I hate is that I either have to choose having 0 ads with no way of viewing embedded tweets or view embedded tweets but with ads everywhere.

I haven't seen this much spamming since Mike James played for the Raptors.

If you have AdBlock for Chrome, try this:
- click AdBlock icon in toolbar > Gear Icon (Options) > Customize
- Under "Manually edit your filters", click Edit button
- input ##.adthrive-ad.adthrive-content and click save.
- reload the site, that should hide the ads. The rule works for me.

Ad block on a recent update changed the settings on a what ads were allowed to get through. If you click on the "why this ad" it takes you to the settings page and just de-select everything and the ads will be gone.
Everybody is losing their freaking minds. Nutbars and wingnuts have infested this forum. We've become a public lavatory without cleaning staff.

uBlock Lite is available for MV3. I tested it for about a month and it worked well.

Until they decide to kneecap it further

I plan on just migrating from Chrome anyways, it's become much too bloaty and they constantly make garbage UI changes that no one asked for, and make it a worse product.

Props TZ!

Tried but failed for me, ads showed up black for a second or two, then reloaded and displayed. Tried ublock lite as per Raps in 4 rec, and it worked to block the ads now. Pages are loading WAY faster too now.
Maybe YMMV.

I used Firefox for like 15 years until Edge enticed me away with their vertical tabs. Now I'll just be going back to FF lol (thankfully, they're finally working on vertical tabs after like 5 years of begging from the community). Brave is another option. It's Chronium but they maintain their own built-in adblock solution that won't be affected by the migration to MV3.

Yeah brave is actually quite good from the times I've used it, it's a solid option. I'm the same as you, I used to be a die hard FF user and that's why I'm more inclined to go back lol

Props TZ!

I highly recommend migrating away from Chrome for too many reasons to list here.
Brave is a million times better and doesn't even require any adblockers.

Realgm has plenty of unsecure / semi-malicious javascript being injected into the site also.
Yall need someone to implement a proper CSP.
