Has this always been there or did my ad blocker for Chrome finally give in to RealGM's demands?

Chromes changes from manifest v2 to v3 are basically breaking tons of ad blockers permanently. They've been making changes for a while but only pushing the changes recently and rolling it out slowly (IIRC).

FWIW I don't see those (yet) and I use ublock origin which is widely regarded as the best for chromium browsers, but that will also eventually break. Your best bet is using a browser like Firefox, or Brave moving forward. FF still has v2 support with no plans to deprecate. All extensions should work there too, since they are all based off chromium.

If you have AdBlock for Chrome, try this:
- click AdBlock icon in toolbar > Gear Icon (Options) > Customize
- Under "Manually edit your filters", click Edit button
- input ##.adthrive-ad.adthrive-content and click save.
- reload the site, that should hide the ads. The rule works for me.

uBlock Lite is available for MV2. I tested it for about a month and it worked well.

Threads are loading at the speed of a Jose Calderon possession

Until they decide to kneecap it further![]()
I plan on just migrating from Chrome anyways, it's become much too bloaty and they constantly make garbage UI changes that no one asked for, and make it a worse product.

I used Firefox for like 15 years until Edge enticed me away with their vertical tabs. Now I'll just be going back to FF lol (thankfully, they're finally working on vertical tabs after like 5 years of begging from the community). Brave is another option. It's Chronium but they maintain their own built-in adblock solution that won't be affected by the migration to MV3.
