Your Early NBA/905 Rotation Thread

Post#1 » by Tor_Raps » Mon Oct 7, 2024 2:39 am

Obviously we're going to assume we have a fully healthy roster. I think Shead/Walter/Mogbo will be doing a lot of double duty where they play for the 905 and the big club simultaneously.

While Shead looked much better than Mitchell, Mitchell's contractual status will give him first dibs at the backup PG spot so that's why I listed it the way I did. The same will probably be true for Ochai over Walter. I also think Battle should see some rotation time when injuries eventually happen, he seems to be a great fit offensively.

PG IQ/ Mitchell/ Shead
SG Dick/ Ochai/ Walter
SF RJ/ Brown/ Temple
PF Barnes/ Boucher/ Mogbo
C. Poeltl/ Olynyk/ Fernando

905
PG Shead/ Carton
SG Walter
SF Battle
PF Mogbo
C Carlson/ Chomche

I really think we might see Carton converted and Battle take the last two-way spot over keeping Fernando around. That would allow Mogbo to fit nicely on a backup forward line with Kelly and Chris. I think Shead plays with the 905 too for the early season and Carton takes the 3rd guard with the big team because he has ample experience down there.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Probably a crazy summer league hot take, but I think Carlson will be a better contributor to the team than Olynyk. Obviously he would probably not get a chance unless there are injuries or if/when we start the tank latter half of season.

He is better rim protector and not allergic to rebounds. Also can hit the 3 quite consistently (against summer league competition atleast lol). Worse play maker though.

Think we got a better idea after a few games. I'm still confident in my early prediction as to how the rotations will play out. After that, it's all on the players to earn more.

I think you nailed it - other than I personally want to see Ochai start and Dick come off the bench just to spread out guys who are gonna want shots, and those who will be more of a complimentary piece.

Dick right now is taking 20 shots per 36. If he is gonna empty the clip like that there is not enough ball to start IQ/Dick/RJ/Barnes.

IQ/RJ/Ochai/Barnes/Poeltl

Davion/Dick/Brown/Boucher/Olynyk

Seems to me to be more balanced. With Shead/Walter/Mogbo/Chomche being in the 905 a lot. Hopefully that is the start of a similar developmental path as we saw in 2016ish with FVV/Delon/Pascal/Poeltl/Bruno.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

I agree with you. I think it just comes down to Ochai showing some usefulness on the court offensively. If he can't make open 3s and finish his cuts to the basket then Dick will be forced to start. Bruce Brown just doesn't shoot it well enough to be that guy unless Barnes/Barrett improve their 3 point percentages immensely.

Exactly the lineup and reasons why I want.
