Warner Bros. Discovery and TNT Sports announced the addition of former NBA star Vince Carter to its team of NBA analysts. Carter will have what the network is calling a “new and expanded role” working as part of The NBA on TNT Tuesday broadcasts. The soon-to-be hall of famer will work with Shaquille O’Neal, Candace Parker and Adam Lefkoe. He is set to begin on Thursday Oct. 17.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to expand my role with the TNT Sports family,” said Carter in a release. “Top notch people, top notch productions, top notch coverage of the NBA…I appreciate the Tuesday night crew, Shaq, Candace & Adam saving a seat for me, honored to be a part of it, we are going to have some fun this season.”
Carter will also be featured regularly on NBA TV throughout the 2024-25 NBA season. Last season, Carter contributed as a guest analyst on TNT and NBA TV for select nights.

Surprised they would as he isn't great at it. He seems to take forever to get his point out. Even when they were interviewing him in Toronto last week, he was difficult to listen to. But I guess he's a big name so it makes sense.

Unless I'm out of the loop, this seems odd since they didn't get the NBA contract over Amazon (yet?). I think he's middle of the road as a broadcaster, and with more practice could get to be pretty solid. Alvin who I think is "worse" has gotten substantially better since he started. Still not great or anything, but passable.

Barkley and Shaq both praised him as the biggest loss when espn laid him off.
He’s an excellent commentary but boring and long winded when being interviewed/forced to talk about himsef

One awkward interview doesn’t mean he’s bad on the mic. I’ve seen him on ESPN a bunch and he’s usually solid
Probably just trying to choose his words wisely bc it’s a Toronto interview

Boring, redundant, no actual insights.

Lowkey it’s a W for us, considering he feels reconnected to Toronto.
We are getting someone who will shill us to American audiences, which is a way of selling the franchise to new fans and players.
It’s like when Kendrick Perkins used to big up Toronto after the arena staff treated him well during our 2019 run. Imagine that, but 10x.

Yeah, Raps should get a few prime free agents coming after VC pumps up the city on TNT.

Just imagine this comment being made ~20-25 years ago without context.

Isn't that Alvin Williams? If it worked for him it can work for Carter.

If he's any good he'll likely pretend to be sick and force his way to Amazon next season.

Just like any other job he will learn and get better at it. If Shaqs been at it VC will be just fine.
Some people want too much verbal diahhrea when watching games.
