Let's talk Dick!

Post#1 » by Snappycoocoo » Mon Oct 14, 2024 12:41 am

Anyone else seeing how dick's game has improved?

He's developed a nice shot from short range and looks good pounding it from deep.

This will be a good year to continue to develop his game

I'm happy he showed today he could make 3s aside from the corner. Just gotta keep emptying the tank so we can tank but also develop hopefully.

Needs to be stronger and more decisive with his actions.

He got that mid range last year, I compared him to Trent with better passing. However, his problem is defense, and unsure how we can have him into the starting lineup without being the purpose of tanking.

Dick cant grow stronger, but he can definitely move faster and drive harder, suck the D in and kick out for open shots.

I think preseason is an awful way to evaluate players in general because teams are playing experimental lineups that aren't reflected of what will be done in the regular season. Preseason is really only useful to determine who will be the 14th, 15th guys on the roster.

I really need to see Dick and the rest of the guys in real games that matter. That's the only way to properly gauge what improvements have been made, if any.

Pretty much but the only concern for me with Dick was on defense. If he gets the 5th spot, teams will be attacking him relentlessly.

I think he's definitely improved, but I also think we need to keep reminding ourselves that this will be a multi-year process and that progress isn't linear. There will still be games where he looks good and games where he looks bad, likely within the same week.

My expectation for Gradey going into last year was: 1st year - figure things out, 2nd year - actual player, 3rd year - valuable contributor. I'm sticking with that. I think there will be flashes this year, but it's really next year and beyond that he makes a real positive overall impact in the lineup.

He needs to stay within a few feet of the 3 point line. That high release isn't great for 5-10 feet beyond the line. His shot looks perfect from the corners.

He can't just stay outside all the time.
He must get bigger and penetrate more in order to succeed.
