OT: I'm starting to wonder about Demar

Anyone catch his appearance on the Jeff Teague podcast? He says he played Lebron 4 times in the playoffs and got swept 4 times.

Does he really not remember winning twice in 2016? Like, how do you not remember this? I don't get it.

You’d think he would remember, but….it felt like a sweep? :dontknow:

Cavs got bored and sleepy. We won a couple, got some “Ooooo are the Cavs in trouble?!?!” national media buzz, and they woke up and stomped us.

He's always such a pussy and a bitch when it comes to Lebron.

I remember him saying on a podcast it was impossible to beat Lebron and there was no way the Raptors team could have beat them. This may have been true for 2016 and 2017, but in 2018 the Raptors blew it and should have won that series.

Let's look 2018: Cavaliers lost Kyrie and did not have a great season. Both an inferior Pacers squad and the young Celtics (without Kyrie) took the Cavaliers to 7 games and almost beat them. We had an amazing team that year and got swept that series. We should not have lost to that Cavs team with the amount of talent we had. The fact that we could not even win 1 game that series was pathetic and was actually the catalyst for trading Demar that summer.

Love Demar but don't understand him always making excuses instead of acknowledging the team blew it. And he was god awful that series forcing Casey to bench him in 4th quarters.

This is the same guy who thinks that in 2019 we win the chip with him instead of Kawhi, reality is not a place where he lives lol.

Do you mean THIS ONE? If so then it wasn't DeMar who said it. Go to 1:04 mark of that video...

Teague: "Listen man, I've never won a playoff game against him [LeBron], I've been in 4 series with this man, I got swept 4 times."

DeRozan: "I got a couple of wins out of it." [laughter]

So, DeRozan did remember.

Ya I agree in the sense that he doesn't have a killer instinct. A couple of those Cavs team shouldn't of manhandled the raps if they were legit.

Imagine flexing a couple wins vs Lebron in the playoffs. Weak mindset. Lebron really was our daddy from 2014-2018. I've never seen a player have a whole organization as shook as Lebron had us

I mean we overpaid Demarre Carroll just to slow down Lebron, brought in PJ Tucker, and drafted OG. I'll never forget that shot in 2018, when he made that I knew one or both of Lowry/Demar where getting traded.

During that last series where JV missed several bunnies during game 1 was the exact end. We win that and for once we would have been up and putting some marginal pressure on. Maybe things go a bit differently Doesn't matter though, we wouldn't have won that year anyways. Being swept was the best thing that could have happened and led to the championship.

Was this a joke too?

Imagine the locker room hearing their best player say "we would have won too if we had Lebron"

Imagine your best player tapping out like this. There's a reason why the Raps under Derozan where notorious chokers. Lebron was so far into Demars head (he still is). BTW I'm not excluding Lowry from this, but this thread is about Demar, but Lowry had his faults too.

We won in 2019, so looking back on the struggles from 2014-2018, just makes 2019 that much sweeter. It's a different story if they don't win in 2019 however. Lowry doesn't get a statue, and instead of reminiscing about the good times with Demar, we're looking back at these moments, and wonder what if we had a better leader, who didn't crumble.

This has to be one of the weakest moments I ever seen from a player especially one who was supposed to be the teams best player. We were never going to beat the Cavs those years but we shouldn't have got demolished like we did. Looked like our team had no business on the court.

We should have beat the Cavaliers in 2018 there was no excuse for that. We had the best team in the East that year with incredible depth, stacked in every position.

Cavs did not have Kyrie that season.

The Pacers and Boston team (with a bunch of young players) took the Cavaliers to a 7 game series in that playoff year while we got swept.

One of our biggest issues was having Casey as a coach as well who was one of the worst X's and O's guys I've seen. His decision to play JV and Ibaka together was a major disaster that allowed Lebron to just destroy us from the perimeter. Nurse solved that issue by splitting JV/Gasol and Ibaka the next season.

We signed Demarre Caroll in 2015 which was before we ever faced Lebron in the playoffs so I'm not sure this idea he was brought in to slow down Lebron. He was brought in because our defense in 2015 was an issue and Masai decided not to resign Lou Williams and instead go with a 3+D player.

Tucker was brought in for defense and to slow down Lebron but remember that in 2017 Lowry got hurt early in the Cavs series and was out. Tucker then left in free agency in 2017.

Demar hate is always weird. You could insert any young star in the league getting steamrolled 4/6 times by Lebron in his prime and they'd be some version of this.

You guys are far too harsh on DeMar. He was never in the same tier as some one like LeBron and never bragged or touted himself as one. He worked hard and took advantage of the gaping hole left by Bosh's departure to become the team's best player. I don't think people understand how dominating a LeBron lead team was on the Eastern Conference. 8 straight Finals appearances is nothing to just gloss over.

In regards to the clip, the season was over and he just gave his honest assessment of the series he had just played. 2017 Bron was arguably his Cavaliers peak season. He had just wrapped up that 4 game sweep averaging 36pts, 8.3reb, 5.3ast, 1.3stl, 1blk on 72.9%TS (57/48/83). Plus that is that same year where Lowry got injured 2 games in and missed the final 2 home games. Our prized free agent addition the year prior in DeMarre to stop the bigger SFs like Bron was out the rotation by G3 even with Lowry out the lineup.

In 2018 we definitely shouldn't have gotten swept, but two of those games were decided by just 1 point each. OT in G1 and in G3 he put the nail in the coffin with his full court sprinting floater that banked off the backboard by Bron to win in G3. OG actually played great defense on the play, but it was just a wild shot nonetheless. There was an excuse and his name was LeBron James.

As much as I hate Casey, you can't even compare the situation man. One team had Kawhi and Pascal as the starting 3/4 and the other 20yo rookie OG and a 23yo sophomore Pascal who had yet to really make his mark on the NBA.
