New Rule For Creating Game Threads

Post#1 » by NinjaBro » Sun Nov 24, 2024 5:29 pm

So in the past the OP of our game threads reserves the right to create the next game thread after a win. Good tradition, either for etiquette or superstition it has served us well. There's a downside with this tradition. Some of the GT thread creators are lazy bums and often times don't know or care to make the next GT.

We've had several days off and a thread hasn't been made on GameDay. I want to talk about our team's winning streak and talk about the Cavs during the week. We shouldn't have to wait until an hour before tipoff until someone makes the gamethread.

My proposed new rule/tradition:

The OP of the last GT reserves the right to make the next GT. If he's a lazy bum and hasn't made a new thread by GameDay by 12:01am, then I propose anyone can now make the new thread on GameDay. Only exception are back to backs.

Thoughts?

I think it should be made 1 day ahead, so that people know there is a game and can start discussing

There's been many cases where a different person started the next GT because the OP was a no-show. I don't think there's any issue of that if it's gameday and the OP is nowhere to be found. If we were a contending team it would have been made by now.

In the past everyone would wait for the previous OP to start the GT on GameDay as a courtesy. Now it will be understood if you haven't made a new GT by GameDay or as someone suggested a day earlier, then anyone will be able to do so.

Is the biggest raptor community still on here?

Or has Reddit taken over

Definitely Reddit. But Reddit is also way more toxic with the upvote/downvote system. Threads also "expire" after just one day, making any kind of long term discussion impossible.

Despite reading it/posting on it almost daily, I detest the platform.

Be the change you want to see - right now
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

I remember when game threads had competition. Like one year I was doing them pretty regularly and we all put a lot of effort into it seeing who could make the better gamethreads. All silly looking back at it now. But it was fun.

I had no idea that this was a tradition or expectation. Now I know. These types of "hidden rules" should be explained like you just did, otherwise well meaning people might get a bad rap. Maybe they're not lazy, but they just didn't know.
I believe in Masai.
