Mogbo Sent to Raptors 905

Post#1 » by Tor_Raps » Thu Jan 2, 2025 9:05 pm

Not sure why the 905 thread hasnt been stickied but take my word for that Mogbo was sent to the 905 lol.

Their next game will occur at the same time as the Raptors game but Mogbo will be with the 905 instead. Hopefully they work on all his offensive skills lol.

As soon as I saw him... I said he was a poor man's Precious but with higher IQ. He already has some tantalizing skills and with his high IQ, let's hope he knows himself the areas he has to improve on.

For someone as athletic as him, he needs to be a lot better finishing around the rim. He already showed some progress on his 3 point shot.

Should chuck Shead down there soon, as well.

I think we would if Mitchell wasn't so bad lol. With everyone healthy, I assume neither PG plays going forward.

Personally I'd start Ochai over Dick strictly for his defense so Barnes can be our roamer and preserve his energy.

IQ/ Walter
Dick/ Ochai
RJ/ Brown
Barnes/ Bouchrr
Poeltl/ Olynyk

The right decision as he's not physically and skillfully ready for any meaningful NBA minutes. He needs to get reps in the G league get stronger, gain some weight so he can bang as a PF/small ball C. He's really a Precious clone with higher ball IQ and that's not saying much. I want this kid to come in around 240 lbs next year, he's toothpick that is forced to play PF/C due to his lack of shooting skills, he can't bang right now and often gets abused on the post.

We need a PG. If last game against Nets is any indication, we may see the 2 pg lineups (at least unless RJ returns, I guess).

He can't finished because he's physically weak, needs to get significantly stronger and gain weight so he can bang at the NBA level, at his current state he's unplayable if we are to be competitive next season.

With Olynyk back I guess he's not going to get as many minutes so this is a good move. He can work on his offense. I disagree that he's not ready for NBA minutes though, he's already shown us a lot defensively.

They're going to play Olynyk a bunch so it makes sense. Let Mogbo get some reps. He's too jittery on the offensive end right now.

I agree - I hope the 905 thread can be stickied too, especially since it looks like our young dudes will be going down there to play more often. I assume Mogbo will be down there until February while we showcase Boucher and probably Kelly O too.

Better defensively than I thought, but his offensive game is worse than expected. Hard to stick in this league when you don't have some go to options.

He's not ready to play as a PF/C as he's being forced to do because of injuries. He can't handle playing in the post, often gets pushed around and loses position for rebounds. I've lost count how many times he fouled for loose balls because he can't hold his position, he's not ready.

Shead has been solid as of late.

But yes, if we're going to maximize his potential, it's important to send him down to the G-League. Get some more reps in.

Jesus christ this is long overdue, he needs to practice his offensive moves in the game league more than learning the nba game at this moment. Darko always reluctant in playing him big minutes anyway, should have done this at least 1 month ago

Also sent down (less surprisingly) Chomche, Lawson and Battle. It is time for the 905 to start really clicking hopefully. I agree Shead should be there too but I think he is staying with the Raps only because RJ is still questionable.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I disagree... while almost every rookie can benefit from getting stronger, I think he just has a horrible touch around the rim.

If he isn't dunking then I have 0 faith anything is going in and that includes layups lol.

The tough part about guys like mogbo is he has no natural touch offensively… outside of an easy dunk he’s a brick everywhere on the floor… his 3 point shooting has shown potential but it’s not reliable enough to say its gonna be a permanent part of his repertoire… look at Scottie who seems to continue to work on his shot and it’s still ****….

Idk mogbos complete lack of touch inside is worrisome for his long term potential… again it’s one of those things that people don’t just miraculously get better at… he’s also not explosive enough athletically to compensate for it… precious was horrible as a player but was a tier above mogbo athletically… mogbo needs to put serious work into his offensive game.

Agreed. If Precious were able to stay inside his role he would be an excellent role player. Imo raptors dropped the ball on his development, he made more sense developing as a 3/4 than a 4/5. Mogbo has nowhere near the ceiling of Previous but I think he will end up being a more serviceable player because he has a better head on his shoulders.
