I still think he sucks as a coach.
Zero plays.

As long as player keep competing and improving he is fine this season.
I think he gets the Casey treatment next year with handpicked lead assistants coming in to clean up the game strategy

depends. if they get cooper flagg in the draft I would expect next season to be competitive esp if poetl is still on the team.

We’re gonna give him a core of Scottie, Cooper, Gradey, Jakobe, and see what he does with it first before we judge him fully I believe.

Long leash until we get a top 5 pick.

I don’t think they’re judging this season and wins and losses. Needs to keep the guys together, see some internal development, and play as a team.

The refs aren't even allowings us to defend.
While the Magic are allowed to go all out.

He's here to soak up L's. He goes away when things either get too bad (players give up), or we focus on W's.

I believe if we see more of what we have been seeing lately they will cut ties end of year.

Darko is the problem again?
And said it before, firing Darko means we are no longer building around Barnes as the focal point. There will not be another dedicate coach to try build around Barnes, might as well build for our upcoming top pick.

His leash is fine, they aren't suppose to win this year, or even next...so he'll be around for next year, but they'll want to see some improvment next year (based on wins). and considering if we are on 20-25 win pace that shouldn't be too hard.

The draft might mean this also.

I don't think he's enough of a disciplinarian. Some coaches would have Barnes crying. He's getting nothing out of SB by allowing him to play the way he is. The 3 point madness has got to end. He's not a that guy, and what are we doing trying to make him a jump shooter on fade-aways.

I think he’s likely fired next season. The defence and compete level is atrocious. The players are adopting losing habits as well.

think they'll give him a chance with everyone healthy and will wait to see how they look next season and if there's any real growth there. would be lying if I didn't think he's ultimately on borrowed time but I don't think they're in a rush right now.

He’s got the rest of this season for sure.

I mean we have a team that was expected to compete for a top pick and has had a ton of injuries and are competing for a top pick.
Seems everything is going how it was expected to go. It’s also not like they’re forcing everything to Barnes - they have been developing every player pretty well by giving them bigger opportunities. Other teams have gone through this before winning. Right now Barnes is the best player on the team. Of course you use his strengths and try to help him grow.

I don't mind the losses it's the body language & effort our young guys are playing with.
Casey & Smitch where not the best guy with x's and o's (and rotations) but I can't name a single player who didn't go out and play less than 100% for them. That's what a development coach does... instill habits, and a culture... Me personally I attribute the growth of Derozan, Lowry, and Bosh to Casey & Smitch (which they have personally talked about). This team needs a hardass like Casey/Sam Mitchell to instill some toughness, hustle, culture into our younger guys during the rebuilding phase.
Darko reminds me of Jay Triano, with how clueless they are. He's probably a fantastic assistant, but he's in over his head as a head coach.

Darko's got a long leash - at least until we start trying to win as a priority - whether that's next year or the year after depends on what the FO decides which will partly be impacted by the pick this year.
