Who Would You Start?

Assuming IQ / Ingram / Barnes / Poeltl is locked in, who should start at the 2?
Not a question of who you think, but rather who you’d choose.

Personally, i would go Ochai.
I think a IQ/Ochai/Ingram/Barnes/Poeltl is our best fit, and it would allow Dick/RJ to dismantle other teams benches.

Not sure why Quickley is a lock. Assume Ingram will be shut down. Next year could be:
Agbaji / Barrett / Ingram (re-signed) / Barnes / 2025 1st

Quickley is a lock. Barnes isn’t a PG, and that lineup is sitting our best ball handler and shooter.
Also, whoever our 2025 first is not starting day 1, especially at center if we still got Jak.
I could see an argument for the 2025 1st at the 2 tho depending on who it is.

I give RJ the chance to see how the lineup performs spacing wise and defensively. If there’s some fit issues I promote Agbagi

Either RJ or agbaji. Dick no matter what should be 6th man

I'd start Agbaji. I think a Quickley, Agbaji, Ingram, Barnes, Poeltl lineup is very well balanced and has everyone playing their ideal role. I also think that RJ would do very well as a 6th man who plays 30 minutes a game. I expect Barrett to start, though, as just putting your 5 best players out to start the game is often the default decision.

RJ without a doubt, he is the best player from that list by a large margin.

RJ.
And that is a good sized starting lineup.

Gotta give RJ the first go with that group. If the fit doesn't work as many suspect it won't then you need to figure that out as soon as possible.

Quickley is definitely not a lock, unless there are more chemistry between him and other starters.
Also, I don't think we are going into the tax by paying Ingram at his current salary (even without a raise). One of the starters will be traded to be below the tax.

It's going to be RJ unless he's moved. I don't see RJ coming off the bench. It's never happened so I guess I'll believe it when I see it.

It's RJ.
Our starting lineup next season will likely be:
Quickley
Barrett
Ingram
Barnes
Maluach

Yeah, he’s a lock.
We didn’t pay the guy $32M for 5 years to come off the bench.
Not to mention he’s arguably our 3rd best player overall, and 2nd best offensive player after Ingram now.

The real question is who goes to the bench when we get the #1 pick and draft Flagg.

Honestly the lineup probably works better with Ochai for spacing and defense, but it will be Barrett.
A lot is also going to depend on where our pick lands. If we get lucky and get one of Harper/Ace/Flagg than obviously that's going to change things as well.

RJ is a solid average NBA starter this year.
The other names are all below average bench players this year.
It's not really a close call tbh.

Start RJ. If it doesn't work out, you trade him.
I'd rather not disrespect him by benching him.

Ideally it would be Ochai. Realistically it will be RJ.
