New Raptors looking a lot like the Cavs

Feeling like our team composition wise is very similar to the Cavs.

Darius Garland - Immanuel Quickly - Garland definitely the superior PG, but I think as IQ continues to develop he can product similar to Garland.
Donovan Mitchell - Brandon Ingram - Both are primary scoring options. Mitchell's built is much more durable, but BI has all the talent to be a top 5 scorer in the league.
Caris Lavert - RJ Barrett - Both are scorers that can do a little bit of everything. RJ definitely a bit more talented and bigger.
Evan Mobley - Scottie Barnes - Do a bit of everything all-star bigs. EM more of a PF/C Barnes a SF/PF. I think both impact their teams in a similar fashion.
Jarrett Allen - Jakob - Both are consistent Cs, Allen more athletic, while Jakob more composed. These guys are like reliable guys every night.

Not going to compare the bench. However, we can definitely say Garland and Mitchell are better than IQ and BI, but is the margin that significant. RJ is definitely better than whoever the Cavs have at the 3. Barnes and Jakob versus Mobley and Allen are sort of a wash.

Point being here is our roster is moving in the right direction. Let's say if we actually had acquired a PG like Fox for IQ and picks. All of a sudden, we have a roster that on paper could compete against the team with the best record in the league. The thing is we have the pieces and assets to make such a move in the next 12-24 months. I think being contenders again is actually a lot closer than people realize.

Our biggest advantage now is our stock of second round rotation guys that are cheap over the next 3 years. Add in continuous improvement from the likes of Dick, Jakobe and our lottery first in 2025.

This is abit much. Would be nice to have that kind of rim protection for the porous Ws/Gs defense.

talent wise we need someone on Donovan's level.

Allen = Yak
Mobley = Barnes
Garland = Ingram
Mitchell > Quickly + RJ

If we can package RJ and picks for someone like Booker, then we would be making serious noise, Im hoping to see the Sun's downfall

You think this roster looks like a potential 65 win team?

In terms of roles, I agree. With that in mind, Donovan Mitchell is really good. He has top 10 player in the NBA potential when he's at his best, and Brandon Ingram has never been at that level. Garland is also a lot better than Quickley, although it's possible that Quickley could take a leap and close the gap there a bit. The Allen / Mobley / LeVert vs Poeltl / Barnes / Barrett part does seem comparable talent wise.

First it's the bucks, now it's the cavs. No, it is neither, Mitchell is a legit #1 option, we don't have anyone close to that. The only thing we have in common with them is that we have a PG, a SG, a SF, a PF, and a C. The talent levels are a massive disparity though.

I agree on the bolded part, if we were able to secure someone of that level of scoring reliability, I would be much more confident with the methodology Masai is throwing together right now. But without that, this is a first round exit team at best.

Also Allen > Jak, like by a noticeable amount.

We're exactly like the Cavs except all their players are better than ours.

Bit of a stretch. We got our own thing going on. With emerging depth.

Not sure we’re like the Cavs because they have way more shooting, especially now with the addition of Deandre Hunter. Speaking of which, y’all still think it’s out of pocket to trade for him via our expiring contracts LOL

I wouldn't be surprised Barrett is the closer scorer to Mitchell than Ingram.

As for the difference, the Cavs is way better on defense, particularly, interior defense, where you got 2 shot blockers, while both Barnes and Poeltl are overrated on defense, otherwise, we won't be at the bottom on defense.

Stop it man. Barrett is not a better scorer than Ingram :lol: Nor is he better than Scottie like you've also claimed.

Barnes has the worst TS% with similar USG% and AST% to Ingram and Barrett, so I am unsure how you think Barnes is good on offense. Barnes is good for not being a below average defender, while Ingram and Barrett are mostly negatives on DBPM.

As for Barrett vs Ingram, I think we shall see soon.

You don’t hold a grudge towards Booker for complaining about you in an empty stadium? That’s impressive.
