At this point we should be happy with Maluach or Kasp. One of them will be available at 7.

Anyone else feel like this draft kinda sucks and nowhere close to as good as hyped?

Like usually in every draft there's atleast a handful of guys who have high ceiling/star projection, as in you can atleast see it and the appeal..

this draft not a lot of intriguing star ceiling guys who I envision realistically making it there.

Flagg - Edgecomb - Harper

I can see with star potential.

- Not a Bailey believer
- Malauch maybe but big question mark
- Tre Johnson good offensive player but don't see star outcome

am I missing something?

Don't know if Thomas Sorber ends up declaring after his injury but I am onboard with him for our pick. I think of him as the no wasted movement, cerebral star of the draft. The guy is so poised as a freshman in every facet:

My comp for him is Onyeka Okongwu who went 6 overall in 2020. He now averages 12/8/2 and is a key player for the Hawks and now looking like the C of the future for that team at age 24.

2026 draft is a lot better in terms of star power at the top. AJ/Peterson/Boozer are all comparable to Flagg in their own way due to being very well-rounded. Cooper is still likely the best defender of the four even though the other three have yet to play a NCAA game.

New to draft? Look at who is better than Tre Johnson at 6?
Darius Garland / Jarrett Culver (2019)
Isaac Okoro / Onyeka Okongwu (2020)
Jalen Suggs / Josh Giddey (2021)
Jaden Ivey / Bennedict Mathurin (2022)
Ausar Thompson / Anthony Black (2023)
Ron Holland / Tidjane Salaün (2024)

You may argue Ivey is the better player, but their advance stats are pretty much the same in college, while Tre Johnson is SG in size that does similar things to Ivey. It is petty clear this is a strong draft, just that they are not being fancy with hype on dunks, but shooting.

Jase Richardson is ranked even lower, you are not going find him later in the draft on a regular draft.

Dink Pate is probably my top target in the 2nd round or maybe Miles Byrd.

The common names at the top are more decent floor guys, not necessarily elite ceiling. This is a bit like the Cade draft with a mock consensus top X players and a whole bunch of question marks after that.

It was supposed to be a four star draft: Cade, Mobley, Jalen Green, Suggs..after that, you have Scottie, Wagner, Sengun, Jalen Johnson, Cam Thomas, Trey Murphy, Kuminga, Giddey, and Grimes has put together a string of good games recently. So about 13+ deep overall.

As prospects, you could say:

Cooper > Cade
VJ < Mobley
Bailey = Green
Harper > Suggs

I think the rest of the 2025 field can stand up to 2021. In which case, we need to find the Sengun/Wagner/Scottie/Jalen Johnson/Trey Murphy's of the draft.

I said before he's like Bogdanovic. Really he's Bogdanovic that doesn't shoot as well. Should be downgraded to the early teens.

How about that JT Toppin!!! He should be a late teens to early 20's pick. Even as a bench tweener that can score and rebound.

This is the draft class I keep looking at. The overall depth ended up being really strong despite all the questions.

There are more than 10 guys in this draft I could see being key pieces going forward.

I didn't know he won 6MOY in the big10 / I was probably the first to bring him up in the summertime but at that time I figured we'd be in the 13-17 range. He's nice tho, he's super weak tho
