Big congrats to DeRozan for the achievement - I think 30,000 is well within his sights, as well. Despite the odds, he ended up as one of the most prolific scorers of all time.

Incredible accomplishment.

For him to be playing at this level at 35 years old is remarkable and he's a rare NBA iron man who plays nearly every game. He is closing in on legends like West, Miller, English, VC, KG, Pierce and Duncan.

If he can play another 3 years at a decent level he likely finishes close to 30,000 points. There is a possibility he does finish with 30,000+ and ends up in the top 10 if he can sustain his 20ppg+ scoring for another 2 years and then plays an additional 2 years as a role player.

From being called DeMar DeRosa! In summer league to now this.. amazing accomplishment and def still one of my fav raptors of all time. Happy for him.

I will always think of this postgame when I think of Demar. Never took accountability for his poor play in the playoffs. Always talked around it or shifted it to something else. I respect his loyalty in that he’s probably the first high profile guy we ever had that signed beyond the RFA contract into his UFA. But I’m just being honest.

Really interesting career trajectory he’s had. His prime best years were really in his 30’s. Wish he went to the Lakers or something but oh well.

If he does follow through what he said about finishing his career with the Raptors, I wonder if we get his last year and he cracks top 10 scoring all time in a Raps jersey. That would be cool.

Also, lf he makes the hall-of-fame (high chance he does) i'm fairly positive he'll want to enter as a Raptor.

Good for Demar, not every player can lead teams to championships but it's an incredible feat to play at a high level for as long as he has, the counting stats don't lie.

6th in points scored amongst active players, 27th all time. Quite the accomplishment

He'd probably have to play at least 3 more seasons to get to 30K, I'm not sure if he makes it there, but he's going to continue to climb that All-Time Points List over the next couple seasons

Can DeMar (25,005) chase down Shaq (28,596) and Melo (28,289) who currently sit 9th and 10th respectively? I'd be pretty surprised if he got any higher than that, Chamberlain sits 7th with 31,419 points, but it really just depends on how long DeRozan wants to play.

Harden (27,399) and Curry (25,117) are obviously both also still in the mix too -- Harden probably passes both Melo and Shaq next year, he'll likely be sitting 9th all time at the end of the season

He's 100% going in. You don't need to win in the playoffs to get in (see TMac, Iverson). Scoring 25k points makes him a lock.
Shoot, the only guys that scored over 20k that aren't already in the HOF (or will be when they retire) are Tom Chambers, Antawn Jamison, Joe Johnson and Aldridge and they're all below 21k. Demar's had a better career than all those guys too.

Modern master of the midrange.

If he played in a prior era, when there was less three point shooting, less sophisticated defenses and less appreciation for how to quantify defensive impact, I maintain that he'd have been regarded as a superstar.

Clutch and scores efficiently inside the arc, largely because his footwork + handle + craft is able to generate so many fouls.

Honestly a shame he never really altered his game to be more "winning", or opted to be a bench gunner on a true contender. Just content to score 20-25 a night and not win. What a career

As someone who thinks he should have his jersey retired here, feel happy to see him achieve this.

Should also be a lock for HOF and there should be no complaints because HOF has been watered down.

He stays healthy-ish and shoots a lot, so there's that. He's in his 16th season at the moment, and has been taking 14+ FGA/g since his second year. There are only 27 guys with 25,000+ points in league history, to be fair, but they do vary pretty wildly in quality.

I don't think it's controversial at all that he will get in, he has the high points total and an Olympic Gold Medal. There are so many players with far worse accomplishments that have made it in. There aren't even that many Hall of Fame snubs really that you can think of.

He's gonna get to 30k without having a reliable outside shot. It seems hes a sure fire lock for HOF now... I know a lot of Raps fans wanted to see him completely fall off the radar.

It's pretty crazy, he wasn't supposed to be this good!

Next year he will beat VC career point totals and will likely be top 25 of ALL TIME scoring.
