I don't know about that. Vassell is an awful defender and grades out terribly in advanced metrics. Average 3 point shooter who does little of anything else, RJ is a definite upgrade over him.

I would trade RJ for the ATL 1st pick from San Antonio and Keldon freakin Johnson. Maybe they want to get younger and trade Harrison Barnes and the ATL 1st pick for RJ Barrett?

On draft night if the doesn't jump into the top 4.

San Antonio gets: RJ Barrett, cash and 2025 2nd pick (Por)

Toronto gets: Keldon Johnson and 2025 1st pick (Atl via SA)

RJ really isn't as valued as some Raps fans think he is. Even after our "rehabilitation" of his value.

RJ currently is probably a neutral asset trade value wise and I think it is way more likely we trade him along with our pick this year if not top 4, for an upgrade than to receive a pick for him.

Going from a toxic to strongly valued contract takes time. I would say this season RJ firmly made it clear he isn't a toxic contract. If he can build on it next year and come back with an above average defense he would be worth a lottery pick. The improvement he's made has been due solely to change in shot selection. For him to be worth a max contract he needs an inbetween game, defense, and better 3pt shooting.

No way would the Spurs throw in a first for RJ.

I would do it for the Spurs second.
