Not that surprising. The Murray trade was fireable offence.

Long time coming. This guy didn't even deserve the job in the first place. Totally leaching off being lucky enough to happen to be in Cleveland when LeBron joined.

Low key Pelicans are in a position to put a godfather offer for Giannis.

They own 2 of MIL next picks,
They have a matching contract/potential trade bait in Zion
They can send out a top ‘25 pick plus young players

Keep an eye on them. This is a great opportunity to hire a good Front Office leader.

Pelicans were in such a great spot just 2 years ago. How fast things can change when your best player doesn't live up to his end...

Why would Giannis want to go to New Orleans if they're giving up Zion and other young players?

Or maybe it's the obvious, he got fleeced in the BI trade. Another Masai victim.

I am more than shocked that David Griffin got fired. This is a team that was a failure more due to injury than talent but maybe the culture there went sour.

Griffin's draft record is impeccable.
Trey Murphy - elite playoff level shooter
Herb Jones - elite wing defender and improved shooter
Jose Alvarado - undrafted gem of a back-up PG
Yves Missi - supremely athletics defensive big
Dyson Daniels - who is a legit MIP player this year which NOP picked but dealt.

Trades were bold. The Murray trade didn't work out mostly because he got hurt.

CJ McCollum is a nice piece but you can pay less for similar type of six man production.

It just seems that other teams have really high expectations and are willing to fire well-established execs, while Masai can just keep on going with this slow painful death of a team. Like, if NOP is lost its direction, where is Toronto? We are building around guys who aren't winning players.

100%. Ed loves being glazed by his subordinates, and Griffin is very well-spoken. He really does seem like the basketball version of Shapiro (incompetent at his job but a great ass kisser).

Could draft but thats it. Didnt know how to build out a real orgnization or put a consistent winner on the court. Had too many holes as a lead exec.

Yeah, not the least bit surprising there. Zion's health isn't really his fault though, and that was the main contributor to their downfall year after year.

Since it looks like all the rumors are coming true - the final bit of intel have on this whole situation is that ownership will mandate Dumars to keep Willie Green and trade Zion. This is what I have heard. It's possible the Phoenix situation impacts Willie Green, but this is the plan I am hearing.

It is, though. His weight has been a concern since college, and everyone and their mother warned that his high-flying style of play coupled with his weight would lead to a career full of injuries.

Because that would still be an elite team.

If they send out: Zion + NOP ‘25 1st + 2 MIL 1st + Jordan Hawkins + 2 2nds

You can still put out:

Dejounte - Alvarado
CJ - Brown?
Trey - Jones
Giannis
Missi - Olynyk

Plus an MLE player

That’s pretty solid. Outside of OKC, this is the best offer Giannis will get.

According to ESPN, both Giannis and Jokic will go to the Lakers: LeBron, Reaves, Doncic, Giannis, Jokic.

Hard to beat that.

He drafts pretty well. His trades have been awful. Some bad luck mixed in with Zion and Ingram always hurt.
