Not surprising, he was worse but still effective last year. And Udoka obviously loves him given how many minutes he plays him.

Somehow I feel like he could have gotten a bit more but the contract seems pretty fair IMO.

Statistically, last year was pretty bad for him, arguably worst year of his career, but he might've been able to squeeze out more from a worse team.

This seems like a wink wink to give FVV a big contract next offseason.

It's a 1+1 and all contracts are guaranteed outside of fringe players. If Fred's primary objective here was to "secure guaranteed money" he would've had his agent ask for a trade to another team willing to offer more than 50M in total compensation (over more years). I promise you that deal was out there.

This contract is more like "I want to win" + "bet on myself" type deal.

Houston doing some good work this offseason. Wonder who they can add to that core. I still don’t have much faith with Sengun at the 5.

Wonder what KD's gonna do when FVV hijacks the offense.

Have to wonder how much of Fred agreeing to do a short-term deal was him and KD matching timelines. I'd imagine KD wan't looking at Houston if Fred wasn't going to re-sign. KD's been highly complimentary of Fred in the past and he's the only real vet in the rotation.

Figured he would have a player option if he took 25m in AAV, trying to bet on himself again after an off year statistically.

Yeah I figured something closer to 30m without the player option

That's a pretty reasonable deal for someone of Fred's caliber and age.

fred signed a 3 year $129 mil deal with the rockets with a $44 mil option.

so for 2 years, he got paid $85 mil. he just signed a 1+1 at $50 mil so his 3 year total would be $110 mil.

our rumored offer was 3/$100 so it was still more in houston PLUS no state tax. he made a killing by leaving.

Could they do a sign and trade though?

Houston was not picking up that option, and other than the Nets, he was probably looking at an MLE deal if he signed with another team.
