Rogers cost cutting. They don't see a need for both a GM and expensive president. Didn't they just do this with Shanahan on the leafs?

The telecom business has been slow. Gota makeup money elsewhere.

Not sure how I feel about this, was it Masai or Bobby making the player decisions over the past 5 years? If it was mainly Bobby, then we should have cleaned house entirely.

If they do actually hire a President, Bobby/Tolzman likely won't be here that long. New guys typically like to bring in their own guys.

Not sure they will pay for a high price president. Bobby Dubas takes over.

Maybe its a short extension to transition. Maybe 2-3 years. I really do not trust Kelly and Rogers to find us a good NBA exec.

If this had anything to do with on-court performance, the whole front office would be gone. Instead you have Ed Rogers acting on a vendetta against someone who threatens his ego.

Rogers didn't replace Shanahan. Ed is cheap AF. I doubt it.

That's my feeling as well. They will do a search and then conclude they don't need one and Webster just reports to Pelley.

Shams says they are searching, hired CAA to look for new president.

will Bobby have full autonomy to make trades/FA signings during this limbo period while we're looking for a new president? This timing is so stupid.

What else is he suppose to do? Not do his job?

I think that is the same play Atlanta ran. They had a big search, didn’t hire anyone, then hired from within for a GM.

I guess he's still doing his job, but he might be in a weird position right now where he has to go get approval for anything he wants to do that requires adding longterm salary, consolidation trades, etc.

This is the worst way they could've gone about it. Fire Ujiri with the bad timing and they don't even really hit the reset button. Just kinda continue on as-is just without Masai Ujiri.

Yep, this is exactly what will happen. Not to say Rogers is cheap, but MLSE has long hinted this before the full takeover.

And good on Webster for securing the bag before he eventually leaves. We got ourselves another Richard Peddie CEO who's already in way over his head

I would rather have the new in-coming president make the call on Bobby, I'm sure the best candidate for this presidency job, is going to want to have full autonomy, especially who is going to be the GM making the roster decisions.

That was basically how they dealt with Shanahan.
