Interesting. Probably means a new 2-way deal coming up

Next up, Lawson and Castleton. Maybe that happens after Summer League though.

Ah, good point. That saves the team a little tax money

I'd still bet they use it else where. For example if Omoruyi balls outs in camp, he'd be the logical replacement

I liked Rhoden. Wouldn't be surprised if he's picked up by someone.

He was like our 4th oldest player just to show how young the Raps are.

We just have too many good bodies...for once

This isn’t necessarily a surprise, and honestly, it may result in a better opportunity for him given the wing depth we have currently.

Good luck to the dude. I hope he can stick somewhere.

Martin to get the 2-way

Raptors roll with 14 players and avoid the tax. Also make trades easier with an open roster space.

End of season if he plays well he’ll get converted to a standard contract (the Battle promotion).

If we sign Martin to the 2 way and leave the 15th roster spot open, I think that might put us just barely under the luxury tax, it would be close. Not 100% sure but likely would be under as I would assume Bobby has crunched the numbers.

Depends if we run a 14 or 15 lineup:

If 14 then you have Martin as a 2w
If it’s 15, then it’s cheaper to have Martin with the rookie minimum of 1.3M and maybe give the 2w to either Castleton or Lawson .

Alijah Martin is like Shead last year who were mature players out of college. Therefore I think Martin may get a guaranteed.

I prefer that 2way goes to Clifford Omoruyi.

I'll put this here as well as the Mamu thread:

Yes, Castleton and Lawson are the obvious waivees. But we are not under the tax line.

Battle's guarantee is about half his salary already, and waiving him and signing Martin to a rookie minimum deal to be the cheapest possible 14th guy would still leave us ~700k in the tax. So safe to assume Battle sticks.

With Battle on the roster, if Martin were to sign a 2-way, we'd be at 14 guys, and about 700k above the tax line.

With Battle on the roster, if we sign Martin to a rookie minimum, we'd be 2M above the tax line. If we sign Martin to a second round exception deal like we did with Mogbo and Shead, we'd be 2.8M above the tax line.
