Idk about contender but nembhard kind of guy.

We really need to upgrade at the top more than anything. Dick or ocahi aren't even gonna play. No real superstar

I wouldn't send IQ for him though due to age. I would send Agbaji and Barrett for him and Davidson (waive). Boston should take it as a mini retool with younger players.

Jamal Murray, Desmond Bane, Trey Murphy III -- those guys come to mind.

Payton Pritchard, TJ McConnell, Jose Alvarado, Alex Caruso, or a Derrick White.

Basically, a scrappy guard that plays hard, yet has enough tact to run the team fluidly in stretches. I'm not entirely sure any one of these guys makes us a contender, but I know for a fact we'd be much more competitive with one of these guys on the team. I'm probably missing guys too, but a player that fits one of these molds would help a ton.

I think the raptors staff understood this too and rightfully tried to trade for Derrick White. Since FVV left we've never had a steady presence at the guard position. I hope it could be IQ (and it may still be IQ if he's healthy), but I get the sense that management doesn't feel he plays strong enough to be the lead guard. Both FVV and Lowry always played bigger and stronger than their stature, I think the staff is trying to find that in a guard. Just look at our guard draft selections since, Shead and Martin, both of which fit the aforementioned mold.

Tough to think of a guy who never made an allstar team that pushes us into true contender status.

If I understand this correctly, you're talking about adding a player which makes us an authentic title contender... that has never made an All-Star team or an All-League team, yes?

I can't think of a single player with that kind of juice without those sorts of accolades.

There's a chance some of the young guys who haven't done it will develop into that level of player, but it's hard to envision.
