This used to pique my excitement. Now I feel nothing.

Nice, too bad one of the games isn't in Calgary as well.

We'll take what we can get out here.

Calgary has the population but it’s the sh*t box arena that’s the problem.

Why do they always gotta go all over the place for training camp, just stay in Toronto and the team be home

We’re the only NBA team in Canada and a lot of people all across Canada can’t come to a game to see the team in person. So they go all across Canada every year for training camp so the fans in those provinces and cities can at least get to see them in person for the Open Gym they usually have. We in Toronto get them for 41 games plus play-in/playoff games if we’re lucky. Let others across Canada have their chance. Also it’s great bonding bc most of the players don’t really know the city well or have never been so it almost forces the players to hang out together, not that Raptors need that bc from everything we hear about the team they are close and would hang out regardless.

lots of teams do this(in almost every sport) have training camp away from home base. considered a bonding exercise among other things

I understand this, its all a part of marketing them as "Canada's team". I dont expect them to stop altogether, but once in a while they should just keep it home primarily. These same bonding experiences can/should happen in their own yard aswell. Its training camp so there is a greater goal and that is to improve, creating that familiarity from the jump, especially for the younger guys is worth something.

A lot of teams do training camp like this so there is clearly an effectiveness to it, the isolation is probably key
