OT: Blue Jays have best record in baseball

Post#1 » by Coco Costanza » Sat Jul 26, 2025 2:16 am

With a win against the Tigers tonight, the 62-42 Blue Jays currently have the best record in all of MLB. After a disappointing off season, nobody had the Jays going anywhere, but game after game they find ways to win.

There’s a blue jays board. We exist.

A lot of things have come together this year, some of which the FO was hoping would happen last year, but this has been one of the sneaky aspects:
Read on Twitter

They've become a wealthier version of the Rays. Can't sign the big FAs? Make sure you're solid all over the field.

The Yankees haven't had a losing record since 1993 when the Jays won their 2nd World Series, because they just buy neutral or positive WAR players at every position. In baseball, there's disproportionate luck in the playoffs, the hard part is getting in and avoiding the WC.

I'm cautiously optimistic but this current core hasn't been able to win a single playoff game yet.

I do like the current supporting players more though and this team just plays hard and does all the little things right. I think the past teams assumed they could just get by on their talent alone.

Crazy that we’re about to add Varsho back to the lineup as well…

Santander is cooked though.

Beautiful. I effing hate Rogers but I'll take a winning Toronto team any day. I don't watch as much sports in the summer as I used to but I try to keep up to date.

Its also bringing the bandwagoners in. A few weeks back I caught a lady at work about going to the games in teh future and how the jays are doing good blah blah and I asked her if she will be buying RJ Barrett's blue jays jersey and she said absolutely.

I appreciate the blue jay ride or dies, but these casual torontonians are terrible

Question for those watching - how are they this good with the starting pitching that they have? I know a thing or two about starting pitching, and I don't remember anyone bragging about how good it was. Is this sustainable with the pitching we got?

We all owe Ed Rogers an apology. This is the greatness that awaits the Raptors now that he's in charge.

I've come to appreciate the bandwagoners. When you have kids, a job, a mortgage, aging parents and a tonne of other responsibilities, it's completely reasonable to be a fair-weather fan. We shouldn't be so tribal and precious about sports. It's nice when everyone in the city gets excited.

Your first sentence hits. Jays are rumoured to be in on a bunch of pitching. We also have Alek Manoah coming back, for whatever little (or lot) that’s worth.
I believe in Masai.

The pitchers are pitching well, the team is making timely hits, and I believe have had the fewest strikeouts amongst batters. We're winning a lot of close games, but everything seems to be clicking.

First time since August 1992. Pretty amazing.

The team doesn't seem to have captured attention as much as the 2015 team. Their style may have something to do with that.

A combination of luck and extremely hot hitting, and a new hitting coach this season (maybe it's more adjustments than luck, but it's hard to tell with a small sample).

The pitching also isn't terrible. We're #13 in ERA and #21 in FIP, which can be worked around with a good offense.

The 2015 team ended the season with a ridiculous +221 run differential. They didn't have the best record in the league that year, but they were absolutely the best team.

This Jays team is more like the 2015 Royals.

Ya, there's still some hesitation with this squad because of how largely unknown majority of the contributors are. 2015 team was full of known stars so it was just different. Lets just enjoy the ride.
