Early Season Returns

Post#1 » by YogurtProducer » Mon Oct 27, 2025 8:36 pm

For people who want to discuss things other than how much everyone sucks - just a quick thread to highlight some fun things I noted.

Current Toronto (3 games) ranks as:

Pace - 108.7 - fastest team in the league (2025 - 99.7 & 11th. 1st in 2025 was MEM at 103.3)

3Ptr - .304 - 29th in the league (2025 - .373, 29th)

TS% - 60.3% - 11th in league (2025 - 55.3TS%, 25th)

Also fouls leaguewide are WAAAAY up. Not sure why the NBA thinks we wanna see more fouls as fans but... here we are. We are averaging 26FTA/game which is 21st in the league. Last year the most by any team was 23.9 by ORL.

First 5 games of the season, they get to face two superstars going off (Wemby & Giannis), and two teams expected to be better that started off with a big O in the win column. Hopefully the Rockets get that monkey off their back against the Nets tonight, before facing the Raptors.

It's alright though, they have a stretch of 11 games coming up where they will face the Nets, Sixers, Pacers and Hornets all twice (plus the Cavs twice), and the Wiz for one game. That stretch should help correct their record.

Im hoping by the end of that stretch of games they've found their groove. Poeltl healthy, Quickley hitting his shots, offense clicking a bit better, rookies and sophmores getting in the flow (although CMB surprised me last night).

Think its gonna take some time getting used to the offense for our starters with so many scorers. RJ is the only one consistently scoring within the flow of the offense. Ingram ISOs a ton and slows the ball down (I dont really mind yet), Scottie has his ups and downs of being assertive.

The fouls are just an early season thing i hope. Last year 4 teams averaged 25+ fouls in October, and AtL and PHI were at 34+ FTAs. It's still up from but not nearly as drastic an increase compared to last years whole season

Consistently seeing players in the high teens to 20’s in free throws to start the season when checking box scores, we want less free throws, not more. Mind boggling.

Raptors early observations - Scottie needs to be the roll man in more pick and rolls. Ingram Scottie pick and roll would be nice to see, I’m not sure I’ve seen it once. Enough Scottie as the playmaker.

Gradey Dick has till Christmas to prove he isn’t an 11th man.

After last nights performances, can we see what things look like with a scottie CMB front court pairing? I feel they have the size to get away with it for at least 20 minutes a game. With Jak obviously injured nows as good a time as any.

Common enough at the start of a season, where they want us to think they're gonna enforce all of the stuff we complain about all year long, like illegal screens and what have you. It'll die down soon enough.

I think they wanna be a cross between OKC/Indiana with this defensive style and Ingram as Shai and Scottie as Tyrese. Not going to work without some defensive dogs in the starting lineup though. CMB may end up starting sooner rather then later.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.
