Anthony Davis of the Dallas Mavericks, another former NBA champion, is expected to be a critical trade target of several teams, including many of the East's contenders. The Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors are expected to be suitors for Davis, league sources told ESPN.

Something like Jakob Poeltl + RJ Barrett + Gradey Dick + pick(s) for Anthony Davis + Brandon Williams (salary) would be permissible.
Leaves you with: IQ / ??? / Ingram / Barnes / Davis
Need one of the young guys to step up in that scenario

I really don't think we can compete, but they would be starting any package with CMB and they absolutely would not want Poeltl (and AD definitely does not want to play the 5).
To me this reads as the Raptors just being expected to increase the price for Detroit. Atlanta will be too cute and just offer garbage.

As much as i would love Davis on the Raptors his fit is theoretical because of how injury prone he is. When healthy he is an otherworldly talent but at 33 i don’t think he will magically become Cal Ripken Jr

AD hates playing Center

This is hilarious considering all of the big man talk yesterday.

Not sure if we are serious, since the age gap seems to be bigger, and he plays the same position as Barnes. I think Davis might go to a contender who boosts their chance of a championship run.
As for our trade option. I don't think we are including Ingram, so it is either Quickley or Barrett (I think we need Barrett rim pressure more than Quickley), plus Agbaji. That would be 15m (with Quickley) or 20m (with Barrett) difference. Adding Poeltl might work and will need to wait until next month.
I don't envision Davis and Barnes can work together, they are probably excel in the paint, much like Bosh and O'Neal back then.

We should just drive up his price so it guts the Pistons. I'd rather go for Morant if we're dead set on a trade this year.

I mean if healthy he's the absolute perfect fit - elite on both ends, can shoot from the deep, rim protector.
Issue is his age, injury history and contract.

Anthony Davis plays the same position as our best player Scottie Barnes. He doesn't want to play center and is nicknamed "Street Clothes"
This rumor concerns me greatly about the competence of Bobby

Imagine us spending the entire 2027-28 watching him sit on the bench in street clothes, while making 63M.

A player who’s been constantly injured but when is heathy can play at an all nba level is available for trade at a diminished value?
That sounds right up Bobby’s alley.

He's starting at the 5 now for what it's worth.

to make ssalaies work we have to lose guard players (iq/rj) + jacob. its improving one spot by making another much worse. not to mention older, for team not competing.

I wouldn’t trade for him either but I think the FO would do RJ and Poeltl for AD for what it’s worth.

These 3 teams don't make sense to me - Detroit/Atl/TOronto are all on a different development timeline from AD. Celtics and maybe Knicks make the most sense timeline and competitiveness-wise out of East.

If we get him for dirt cheap i wouldnt mind it at all (like BI level package) if thats even possible. But if we have to give up any of our young guys or Yak im hanging up.

Counter point, the east is incredibly weak and a healthy AD would make Detroit the favourites in the east.
I rather Detroit go for Lauri though.
