Just in: For the first time, the Memphis Grizzlies are entertaining offers to potentially move two-time All-Star Ja Morant ahead of the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline, sources tell ESPN.

Multiple teams are pursuing Morant in trade talks and rival executives believe the Grizzlies would prioritize draft picks and young players in return, sources said. Morant, 26, is under contract with the Grizzlies through the 2027-28 season.

Memphis is considering multiple paths forward amid the emergence of several promising young players, including building around them and 2023 Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr. The Grizzlies also remain open to continue on with Morant as a focal part of their retool.

Injury prone. The western conference version of Lamelo Ball.

I'd rather Lamelo than Morant. Less attitude issues. Morant would get arrested for gun issues in Canada sooner or later

There's a lot of people on this board that want the Eastern conference version of LaMelo Ball   . One thing I know for sure, is that there are a lot of potential "upgrades" at the PG and C spots by this deadline. I'm not sure what the Raptors are going to do, but it's exciting to think about the possibilities of this team getting better. Btw, I'd rather have Ball than Morant at this point.

I would have rather gone after Trae then. Ja is a headcase and would be a terrible fit on this roster (he can't shoot). He's also not going to have a long career given his playstyle.

At first my thought was "this screams miami heat to me" but then I remembered they are playing the offense he hated last year, so that's probably a no go.

Same here, especially if Grizzlies are looking for picks to be included.

Melo is better.

He's dumb, he's small, he's injury-prone and he doesn't have the skills to extend his career once his athleticism begins to fade.

That's not a great setup.

Somehow I feel he'll fetch much worse value than Trae

What are the Grizzlies doing tho? Traded away Desmond Bane for what reason?

Definitely needs a team where fit makes sense. Lamelo will be next for rumour milĺ.

If Raps acquired Ja, many here would do a complete 180 and start raving about his rim pressure.

Big difference between Morant and Ball is that Morant has shown he can be the best player on a team that actually wins. While his team hasn't had a ton of post season success, he has had some notable big performances. Ja seems like an idiot though, and his athleticism already seems to be declining, he never gets up the way he used to.

I'd do IQ + Dick + Ochai for Ja.

I don't think he pulls much more than ATL got for Trae.

Ja's game is fun......and who knows......maybe he is a fit somewhere.

I just don't like the fit here. Character issues. Injury issues. Not a ball movemnt kind of player. Too much risk.

I agree with others. Trae would have been a better fit.

If I were Bobby I wouldn’t answer any Memphis area code numbers until after February 5th.

Or have a screener: “if you are calling about Ja Morant press 1. If you are calling about any other member of your team, press 2.”

his 3pt shooting is a bit concerning, 20% this season and 31% career.
