I agree that they should see what they can get. But I think the reality is that they won't fetch much.

Getting someone like Sabonis will just create a bunch of posts in 6 months time saying we need a big with better defense.

Although I can see the logic if the reports are true about Shead and how they really like him. You can run the offense thru Sabonis and Shead can focus on what he's good at.

If we get Sabonis say goodbye to contention for the foreseeable future. He's the worst type of big to have because he's talented and will give you numbers but you are going nowhere. He's straight food when it matters.

This team hasn’t been fully healthy all season but no one has structural issues. We don’t have years of data with the current group to even make informed decisions. The idea that they’re going to trade any big pieces before at least seeing this season play out is ridiculous. It’s not happening regardless of how much some may want it to happen.

Jake Fischer is selling clicks per usual.

You need years of data? C'mon.

They don't want to or know they won't be able to extend RJ.
They want out of the IQ contract badly.
Poetl's got chronic back issues that will plague his contract, so yeah, they want out of that too.

This is very obvious.

Sure they are. They're our major tradeable salaries and the deadline is in 3 weeks. It would be criminal of the FO to NOT see what we can get.

That said, I don't really want a Sabonis trade, or anyone off SAC except maybe Monk in a smaller deal that doesn't involve our starters. I don't see a player out there that we could get right now that helps us make a deep playoff push this year, or makes us better in the long run.

Seems like a "shuffling the deck chairs" type move.

This group has shown some.chemistry. Why mess with it for a player like Sabonis?

I could potentially see IQ or RJ get moved.......but it will be for money purposes. Not to necessarily upgrade the team.

Weird how Masai gave all of these big contracts out. It was almost like he knew he was on his way out & wanted to set "his guys" up for the future before being walked out.

I dont think Masai would have that irresponsible thinking.

I think the FO as a whole saw the OG deal as a stop gap. At the time, reports were that Indy and NY were bidding on OG. I am curious what the package was for Indy - it likely would have been a bigger deal with Siakam too. Nonthless they took IQ/RJ package. To me, they were always going to see what was out there in order to get better players. They knew they had to pay IQ once the trade was made. If IQ turned legit, they keep him or they do what they are now - a guy playing below his contract but decent enough and explore what better players they can get for him.

Yeah we are obviously looking to make moves this deadline....Which i don't blame the front office for trying.

I like the team and a few guys on our team have really shown to have some upside....But everyone knows including the front office this team is not making it far in the playoffs....We don't have any way to really upgrade the roster besides late FRPs which most likely won't amount to much unless you get really lucky..

RJ contract is up soon we most likely won't go into the tax too much to keep him and i do wonder if we want to pay RJ alot if we are stuck with IQ/Yaks contracts as well...Really handicaps you to do any moves if your team is basically IQ/Yak/BI/RJ/Barnes/CMB/Shead because while thats a servicable team they are not a playoff winner imo...Too many holes and not enough shooting...

IQ/Yak will be very hard to get off so if any team is willing to take them you have to consider it even if its a flawed star like Morant....

Because with Morant/AD or whoever it is at least that rises the ceiling of the team if they do play better since they will be surrounded by alot more talent than the teams they are currently playing for....

The team we have now has 2nd round exit upside imo not a championship or finals run...So if your upside with this core is 2nd round exits its hard for me to blame the front office for trying to upgrade and get off bad contracts in the process....

This has crossed my mind. Does JJJ have the right mix of strengths (and weaknesses) where can shot 3, defend some bigs, and Scottie, CMB can rebound.

People always seem to dispute the RJ thing so much, that I feel like I am the only one seeing something so obvious. The Raptors have historically always tied up guys they value, immediately. They also add a little sprinkle on top when said player is Canadian (Boucher, Birch LOL). I know many will say I am wrong, but it speaks volumes to me that he was not extended, especially when he and his father have said publicly he wants to stay in Toronto forever.

This intel update pretty much has nothing new, aside from the Poeltl stuff. Because the previous reporting had been that the Raptors had been looking to add a big to their depth without moving Poeltl, so the apparent willingness to move off him now is pretty much the only thing new here.

IQ and RJ being shopped around has been known for a while now and is probably just being reiterated in case people started to wonder if 1 of them was off the block with Poeltl now being on it. Although there's obviously no way they would move all 3 in 1 deadline season.
