Aldridge Playing Center?

When I look at the box scores of Portland games, it looks
like Aldridge must be playing a lot of center.
If that's the case, and with Portland doing so well, perhaps
he could have coexisted with Bosh in a Raptors uniform.

he could not have co-existed with Bosh... therefore we didnt select him PERIOD... lets try and move on.

No matter what he's playing (PF or C), his offensive game is fairly similar to Bosh's. Still, I see LMA as more of a catch and shoot, pick and roll kind of player, and Bosh as more of a catch, wait, then drive or shoot player, but they both like to catch the ball at roughly the same spot.
In any case, this discussion is somewhat pointless, as we selected Bargs, and are just gonna have to live with what we got.

So Aldridge wasn't guarding Joe Smith who went off with 31 points on 11-17 shooting?
The guy you need to focus on is Roy. Defenses pay so much attention to the guy and he is still able to control the entire game.

While I understand how you could make the argument that Aldridge is a PF and not a true center, I've never understood how you could consider Bargnani a potential center but Aldridge not.

Travis Outlaw and Channing Frye covered Joe Smith for most of the game. Aldridge was mostly on Big Ben

In a magical world where you can draft players AFTER you see them play a season and a half in the NBA, I'd take Roy 1st, with Aldridge or Gay being a toss-up for 2nd/3rd, and Bargs 4th. At least we didn't draft Adam Morrison!

As stated, Aldridge is a good player but in terms of a making us feel sorry for passing them over index, Roy is clearly the one to watch. I don't really see Aldridge and go, man, wish he was on my team. Roy is another issue.

Aldridge is not playing C full time- he said so himself before the draft. Bargs at least seems willing to give it a shot. Aldridge would be way too redundant with Bosh on the floor. They both operate from similar areas on the floor. Plus Aldridge's nose is so big, it would kill the spacing in the offense.

Alridge's defensive efg% at the C position is .528.
Bargs, OTOH, has a defensive efg% .393 at the same position.

I like Aldridge quite a bit. The one confusing part of his game this season has been his defense. I thought he was a lot better when he was able to play last year. This season he's been a lot worse in the games I've seen. I don't know if it's because Portland's asking him to be more of a threat offensively and it's taking away from his D, or if he's still being bit by injuries or what.
