Is it age, or teams adjusting?

Personally it looks like he put on some weight in the offseason.

Age.

He's lost a step. He was pretty big last year on both sides of the ball in very subtle ways, but he just doesn't seem to have it anymore.

He's still a decent role player, but we need someone better there.

Im concerned about him hitting his free throws lately


he is by far our best defender, no way we move him anywhere.
detroit plays tough perimeter D, and he was just placed on tough spots with the ball in his hands with no time left on the shot clock.

AP was the definition of stop gap. as was garbo.

he's 32 years old. but he will be replaced one of these days.

Somebody will want Parker come playoff time. I think he's being overlooked as a trading chip. Package him up with a couple other guys and we could get a more dominat younger 2 guard on a longer deal. Not sure who though.

Nah, im not worried..as much as i like AP he is merely filler at the 2 until we can get something better

I was at the game and Parker was awful at both ends. Sadly he's a mere shadow of the player we had last year.

He's a declining talent who is now a liability.

AP is not an NBA starter, he's a solid player off the bench tho

I don't see it. AP for the most part is the same AP he was last year. He likes to either spot up, or use a screen to get himself a fadeaway on offense. He plays good positional D on the other end of the floor, and is usually average on the boards. Last year we complained that he didn't drive enough- this year he's been driving a bit more but sucks at finishing.

It seems like he was just trying to avoid contact by throwing up those shots
most of the time the shot doesnt even hit the rim

Not really. He's only scoring 1.8 point less per game than last year and most of his other stats are about the same. There are more options this year on offense, so his shots are going to go down, but he has been a little inconsistent.

His 3P% is actually up 5% from 44.1% last season to 49.1% this year, but his FG% is down to 45%, as opposed to last seasons 47.7%. He's also playing 4 less minutes per game this year.

He's done more stuff he hasn't showed us last year and it seems like its not working. He flops a lot too

I think a combination of his age and the fact that teams are more prepared to go up against him now. You have all seen Parker play more than I have but he doesn't seem to have added anything new to his game this year, as an older player that's not an odd thing, but I think because of that fact and because teams now know the scouting report on him he's just a lot more predictable...

I think that having Kapono and Delfino in the rotation does hinder his playing a little bit. Lately Delfino and Kap are playing pretty crappy as well. I think the rotation does need to be tightened up a little, even though all 3 are very good at what they do.

I'd say in hindsight he's still the same player more or less but he's doing poorly in the new system. I think he excelled more in Ford's system then in Calderon's. Ford is better at setting up Parker but I think Calderon forces Parker to create his own shot, run around screens and finish around the rim. I think his bad play right now is just a product of the system he's playing in, if we had a more athletic young wing that could play next to him that could create his own shot and get to the line, I think it would benefit Parker a lot.

I think we need to put AP on the bench next year, he's just not showing enough to justify being a starter.. His best asset, his defense, is starting to slip big time, he shot selection is questionable at times.. he turns the ball over at crucial times or commits a foul when we're trying to make a stop...its clear he would be better in shorter rotations..

I think our best bet would be to try to acquire a better player at that SG/SF spot this offseason, and trade two of Moon/AP/Kapono/Delfino/Joey/Dixon for an upgrade at that position or a good big man-- thats just too much mediocrity and depth there... We need even one solid, reliable, quality player rather than a comitee of mediocre wingmen who play good once in a blue moon (no pun intended)...
