Toronto Star
Raptors' Mitchell wants Bargnani rebound

Bargnani is very much a work in progress on the boards, a fact that's causing his coach much consternation.

The solution?

"Stay on his ass," Mitchell said yesterday, pausing for a split second between words to add special emphasis.

"That's as simple as it is."

Today's Matchup

The Raptors' Andrea Bargnani is not the greatest defender, but he'll have to try to push the big Cleveland Cavaliers centre off the block.

Toronto Sun
Just rebound

Bargnani's toughness has been questioned when his lack of rebounding is discussed, but Mitchell said that it has nothing to do with that.

"Andrea's not afraid. I don't think Andrea backs down from anybody," Mitchell said. "He just has to rebound the basketball."

Sam staying with Dixon

"We have to continue to develop Juan. I just can't yank the rug from under Juan, because he has been pretty steady and I felt like (Friday) night if we could have caught more of the passes he made, which were good passes, if we score instead of those turning into turnovers and points for them, then it's a whole different ball game," the coach said. "I'm not displeased with Juan's development. You have to understand, we're taking a guy who has been a two-guard, with a scorer's mentality, and now we're asking him to play a completely different role."

Thanks supersub. Time for Sam's motivation to kick start Bargnani's rebounding woes. Props to Sam for staying patient with Dixon, he's been decent as backup pg with the exception of the Pistons game.

I agree with Sam... although I saw first hand (was at the Pistons game) how he was on the court for some very bad killer runs by Detroit, on the offensive end he was actually making some really nice passes. The rest of the team just was dropping or not finishing them, and unfortunately it ends up looking all bad on Dixon. He's a better option than D-mart, and has been really reigning in his jacking, which can't be said about Martin.

Not if you go by this result http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=271124005.

...but this is hardly scientific.
