We have past the deadline for guaranteed contracts and Martin has survived. He is officially guaranteed for the rest of the year.

Keeping him makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but i guess his positive influence trumped his awful play.

Also, congrats to Moon for also becoming guaranteed for this year and next. I guess it's not such a bad day after all.

I think the OP is wrong.

You can start signing 10 day contracts, but season contracts don't become guaranteed until Thursday.

But you have to waive someone today to meet that deadline, for players take 48 hours to clear waivers.

Thus, Martin is fine.

Damn Bryan, cut the man and offer him a coaching position. BC is starting to show he isn't as smart as originally though after picking up Joey's option and allowing Martin's contract to be guaranteed.

In the first paragraph of the link YOU provided.

"as of this Thursday has his contract fully guaranteed through the end of the season."

I think the OP is right, I've seen a lot of waived scrubs on the newswire today.

Well, your assumption is still premature.

Its 6:08 and generally we don't know who is placed on waivers until some time after the 6:00 deadline. For all we know Martin's name has been placed on the waiver wire.

We need to wait and see.

If we need Martin as a back up for Hose, & Dixon it's a sure sign that management knows TJ is in bigger trouble then we are lead to believe

I'm going to repeat this once more for everyone who seems to have missed it:

THURSDAY JANUARY 10th is the date for guaranteed contracts. Not today. And that info is right there in the first paragraph of the link the OP provided.

u should read better :Which means that if a team is not serious about keeping you, or might want a roster spot or some cap room, they have until 6 pm ET today to let you go without having to pay you all season. Then players will spend 48 hours on waivers, and would be free and clear as of Thursday.

^ but don't players have to clear waivers by the 10th? which would mean he must be waived by midnight, perhaps?

League offices aren't open 24/7. They have business days just like the rest of us.

Thanks jay. I stand corrected and my apologies to the OP.

I would think that it's too early to know for sure what the Raps did today. Either way, guaranteed or released, we're going to get a press release on what the Raps decided to do with all their non-guaranteed players.
