LeBron James or Dwight Howard?

LeBron James

Dwight Howard

If you had to choose one to build around, who would you take? Normally you take the dominant big man as history has taught us a valuable lesson. But LeBron is very dominant in his own right, and has the size and skill to be better than MJ; it's now up to James alone if he wants it bad enough. Howard is the next Shaq, and he's still so young. It's a tough, tough question. I would probably take Howard because he's very durable and has a great attitude.

Howard isn't the next Shaq.

By the time Shaq was 22, he was putting up 29/13/3.

James is the first pick

Howard is a close second.

Interesting question is, who is #3 after those two?

No he isn't the next Shaq, but I feel he could be better. Howard is in twice the condition Shaq ever dreams of being. With Howards physical gifts, great attitude and so many years still left, I see hall of fame for him. I take Howard over Lebron any day. James is more the type to go where the money is then Howard.

Most likely Wade sans the injuries. Although, I like Chris Paul or Deron Williams for the 3rd.

The same could be said for Shaq (going to L.A., Miami, etc.). But it doesn't change the fact he's probably a top 20 player of all time.

You are correct, I just feel that Howard's character is more of a benefit then Lebron's. Let's say they are tied for 1st. This is a really tough call. I mean obviously Lebron is dominant (when he feels like it). I just like what the future holds for Howard, I mean how old is the kid and bigs usually take loads of time to develop.

And plus, he had a full on conversation with my 12 month old boy, and my wife thinks he's hot so that counts for something......

I think this much is true: I'd feel more comfortable being up 10 on the Magic with 12 minutes left than being up 25 on the Cavs with 12 minutes left. (somewhat of an exaggeration but I think my point stands)

As a fan Howard. As a GM Lebron. Lebron can win games. We just saw that. He beat the Pistons in the playoffs. With a better team. W0W

For me the #3 is definitely Chris Paul. I'd also take Bron over Howard by a slim margin.

I'd take LeBron. A player of LeBron's caliber is as rare or even rarer than the elusive dominant center. He's like Magic with Jordan's athleticism/scoring ability or Jordan with Magic's court vision. In the past 25-30 years, there've been 3, maybe 4 non-centers at this level - Jordan, Kobe, LeBron and arguably Magic.

IMO #1 must have the capability of taking the team on his shoulders at the end of the game.

And maybe if Howard got the ball a quarter as much as Lebron, he could carry the team on his massive shoulders.

The last 3 games, Howard only had 11 fg attempts in each game. Lebron in the last 3 had 29, 18, and 22. I mean Howard is averaging 60 percent fg because nobody can stop him in the paint. If he had a pass first pg he would be scary. Picture even Calderon playing with Howard.

Pretty tough call but I go with the King. Lebron is just to good not to pick. Either one of those guys with Bosh would be flat out domination though.

I say Durant.

CP is the smart pick, Oden may be best, Wade may come back, but with the third pick wd-40 selects Durant.

Howard is a great player, but LeBron is a once-a-generation player.

After watching him single handedly destroy the Pistons last year with a terrible supporting cast, there is no doubt in my mind that he is the #1 player to build championship asperations around.

I like Durant but see him being like T-Mac, world of talent but too frail to endure too much NBA ball. I hope I am wrong, but Durant has to break down eventually.
