*Official Send Calderon to New Orleans thread*
So after reading Supersubs post under the "Hollinger thinks Bosh and Calderon should be all-stars" I thought I'd make a thread telling you guys to VOTE if not KEEP VOTING for JOSE CALDERON. As you all can see , His numbers are simply amazing, he deserves to be in the all-star game.

whether he deserves to go or not won't matter ... like I said in another thread, too much individual talent in the East, that I don't see Calderon getting picked over those guys by coaches ... as far as getting the fan-vote, Chris Bosh's YouTube got a lot of mainstream noise and ink, but it wasn't enough to close the gap between him and LeBron/KG ... There's no way Jose's getting voted over D-Wade/J-Kidd ...

Third best POINT guard in the east.
Problem is, for the all-star game, players aren't voted in or appointed by coaches as point guards or shooting guards. They're only classified as "guards". Which is one reason why Steve Nash usually get shafted in the starter voting. The starting guards in the west are usually Kobe and T-mac, neither of which is a point guard.
Calderon may be the third best POINT guard in the east, but if they're bringing 5-6 guards with them, he probably won't make that cut. I'm not saying it's impossible, but he's not just up against the other point guards. He's also up against the likes of Ray Allen, Vince Carter, Rip Hamilton, Andre Iguodala and Joe Johnson too.
The odds are stacked against him and most other solid point guards, because the shooting guards are the sexy choice.

Okay, no. T-backs garbage. He sucks. He is NOT starting in the all-star game and he won't, watch.

The guy just said those are the two guards who usually start in the West, to show that a lot of the time there isn't a PG in the starting lineup.
And it's true that T-mac usually starts, hes started in the last 3 or 4 at least I think.
And I didn't take a look at the last results, but I'm pretty sure he's still in a starting spot.
Don't get me wrong, I agree he shouldn't be starting....but the other post was accurate.

Holy crap, you guys realise that votes mean nothing after the starters are chosen, and that he has ZERO chance of surplanting any other top vote-getters, right?

Agreed....just to qualify my earlier post....part of my point was that the system is flawed, with the NBA not differentiating between point guards and shooting guards. It's a crime that Nash doesn't start, and it hurts the actual game by not having a point guard out there to distribute the ball.

yep, agree with all of that.
I'm pretty happy a PG is starting in the East. It should be pretty fun to see Kidd setting up Dwight, Lebron, Wade, and KG to start out the game.

The system clearly doesn't work well as it is now.
In theory, if players were in a certain conference your guards and forwards starting the game could be Kobe, Tmac, Lebron, Pierce.
Basically 4 played who all play the same position.
I know its been discussed by the NBA about changing it to this format.

Guys like Amare, Yao, Duncan, etc would all be post players...
Guys like Carter, Lebron, Pierce, Jefferson would all be wing players...
And realy PG's would be PG's... Billups, Kidd, etc.
