Marv Albert's creepy past

So last night I was watching a tv special on the top 20 most forgotten pasts and on comes Marv Albert. It turns out he has one of the most disturbing sexual pasts I have ever heard.

When Marv was engaged to his current wife he began a torrid affair with a hotel employee and they hooked up in Miami and LA mostly. Well one night he asked for them to try something new and he asked her to bring someone else to their hookup that night - another man to be more exact. When she didn't do that, he lost his mind and had some very violent sex with her. He bit her on the back 20 times and left her with numerous scratches and wounds that the minute he left she had to call the cops.

She later pressed charges on him and a very long court battle went on the rape charges were dropped but he still faced sexual assault and sodonmy charges tat could keep him in jail for up to 25 years. The court battle was when his past really came back. Several women came out acknowledging Albert's fetish obsessions, including dressing up like a woman before sex and many times asking that guys be brought.

Eventually Marv settled out of court in exchange for dropping the sodonmy charge that held the jail sentence. He was given a 12 month suspended jail sentence, which means he still legally owes the government jail time. 7 years later he asked that the record be stricken and it was granted that's why no one really knows about it.

Sometimes I forget how young this forum is. That Marv Albert thing seems like only yesterday, but I suppose it's been 10 years now.

He was fodder for the late-night talk show hosts and SNL for months.

To quote the great Michael Scott: "Andy [character on The Office] is like that sportscaster who bit that woman...Marv...something. Great sportscaster, crazy-psycho-weirdo."

Says a lot about the mean age here doesn't it?

Whenever I hear Albert's voice, "superfreak" is pretty much all I think. Surprised that that was over 10 years ago already.

Me too. Seems not so long ago. That young posters haven't heard this is also a sign of the amazing way his reputation was rehabilitated. He was taken off the national NBC broadcasts for 2 years (Bob Costas filled in), and then brought back. As if nothing had happened.

He used to be a staple on David Letterman before the scandal, then was a butt of jokes as the poster said. I'm not sure if he's ever been back on Letterman as a guest since his "comeback."

I still remember it as well, and find it hard to believe its been kept quiet since (meaning last few years). I cant believe the NBA would hold onto him

I have always had trouble listening to the guy because of his past. He is a scumbag and his voice reinforces that for me. I know that is not an intellectual thought, but it is how I feel about him. I do not care what his rep is as far as ability on the airwaves. He should never have gotten the opportunity to be back in the limelight. I wish someone would bring this up every broadcast he makes.

There are excons out who have to live their lives fighting their past and being discriminated against, because of it. They often do not deserve it. He does. Let him recover out of the public eye!

Ah the good ol' 90s. I still remember him being replaced by Bob Costas on NBC after that whole mess. I just can't believe NBC got him back so fast to do play-by-play in just a few years after the trial. It certainly wasn't the same listening to Marv.

Yup, got swept up with Eddie Murphy's and Hugh Grants trannie hooker arrests.
