I know he is an NBA legend but I don't understand why people would still like to play with Shaq. It's also interesting to note that Wade is missing from this list. Do other players just not like him?

if you wanna win you go with Kobe or TD. If you wanna get touches and have fun and run the court and never win a championship, you go with nash

Ideally you'd want to play with a player that's going to pass you the ball.

I would play with Shaq just so I don't have to play against him, if that makes any sense. Even though he is getting older, slower, etc., I'm sure he's still very tough to guard in the post and box-out.

nice to see nash get the recognition but all Tim Duncan has done is win four championships. what's the matter with these guys? shows they'd rather run up their stats than win it all.

I disagree.
IMO the best two players that help you win are the same order as voted by the players. Without a great game leader, no team goes anywhere.

From all the players listed, only 3 have rings and are proven to take it to the end. Most still have time.
While Shaq got lucky to match with Wade, Kobe still needs to prove that he can take a team to championship.
While "boring", TD should be the first big on the list (since Shaq has passed his prime).

See unlike us who can only watch from outside, the players got the inside scoop. This means they know the character strength of each of the leaders.

I am surprised that Wade is not there replacing AI in the first 10 players.

I believe that this question would have been better as:
"name first 10 NBA players that makes everybody better around them".

Nash gets players paid...Ask Boris Diaw, Leandro Barbosa, Amare, Tim Thomas, Joe Johnson, etc...how much money he's earned them by each 1 steppin' up their game.

actually i would say kidd got more people paid. look at all the scrubs who in this league because of this dude. amare is max player regardless of nash or not. barbosa doesnt really benefit from nash, but rather then system (he often creates his own shot). you could probably make strong arguement for diaw, but system has alot to do with it.

look at kidd. getting jefferson almost max money. K-mart the ultimate scrub getting paid alot because he can dunk off Kidds passes. scalabrine a scrub who doesnt deserve to be in this league got paid. recently mikki moore, who came from d-league and got decent buck this off-season. i can't remember but in phoenix he got alot of players money. i think there was article about how many players played with kidd and got their payday shortly after.

What?! ... nobody wants to play with CB4, TJ or Jose? I guess we have to send some hate emails to SI

But seriously ... Who wouldn't want to play with Nash? He turns chicken crap into chicken soup ... Howard's another great player to play with, a PG's dream, all you have to do is dump the ball down low ...

sure.

He made it sound like this is not enough for Duncan to be part of that list.
Winning the 4 rings does not prove enough...

Que? Read the post again. He was being sarcastic with that line. It's clear that he thinks Duncan should be NUMBER 1 on the list of players people want to play with. Read that "I guess people care more about stats than winning" line.

no, i wasn't kidding. i love steve nash, and i admit it would be more fun to play with nash than with duncan but, fellas, it's about the titles. Duncan has four. Nash has none. Duncan is a three time finals MVP. Two time league MVP. Selfless player, great teammate. His team was .244 before they drafted him, and its worst season since (with amazing turnover in the supporting cast) has been .640. Last ten seasons he's never missed the playoffs, he's lost in the first round only once. And San Antonio is as likely as any team in the West to make the finals again. Again, I love Nash, he's a great player, but if I want a ring, I take Duncan. He's been the most successful basketball player in the world the last decade, the Bill Russell of his generation.

if i wanted a championship team and had to pick my superstar from Nash,Duncan,Kidd,Kobe, i would pick Duncan first, Kobe second, Kidd third, Nash last. Nash, with 2 other all-stars and 1 near all-star (barbs) hasnt gotten his team to the finals. So how does Nash give you a better chance to win?

Completely Agree... Not that I'm biased or anything lol. Love Nash as an offensive player but I can never consider him with the elites because his defensive skills are so pathetic.
