Chris Bosh this season already has three 40 point games

Post#1 » by XTC » Sat Jan 12, 2008 5:26 am

Chris Bosh this season already has three 40 point games. I remember a few years ago there was a consensus that Bosh would be lucky to get a 40 point game, because it's not in his personality to be the guy who takes over a game with 40 points, but will do the other things.

It was a consensus that he would be a solid 20 point guy game in game out which has been true. Bosh has been super consistent since he has taken over the role as the leader of the team.

I really like Bosh this year (Besides the first 9 games), he has decided to be a lot more aggressive, and not settling for as many jumpers.

Here are his stats when I think old Bosh came back (road trip).

23.5 PPG, 10.2 RPG, and I like his defense this year, he really has improved.

Only thing that has me worried though is he had some big stinkers shooting wise this year, but compenstated for being aggressive and going to the free throw line.

i would rather have 20 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 blocks from Bosh rather than 40 points and 10 rebounds

but if you saw how he got those 40 points tonight, he attacked the rim and got to the line

and thats also good

Bosh still has to get that FG% up, but his aggressiveness really started against the Mavs. CB has been exceptional on the road.

Aggressive 40 points: good.

Aggressive 40 points and a win: better.

Reminds me of MJ's 59 point performance against the Pistons in 89 (or was it 88?). When asked what he thought about his scoring binge, MJ replied: "A win. That's all we want."

That's pretty good for a big man and IMO its very hard for a big man to get 40 points. It's easier for SF/SGs though. 46% is pretty good if you ask me. Those 9 games you speak of are exceptions, his foot was bothering him and everything.

Big ticket of the night?

Did Kamla pick him for the all match up team? Usually picks people playing the knicks.

Like a previous poster said I would rather see Bosh with a stat line like 20pts, 12-15 boards, 3-5 assists and a few blocks rather than 40+ points. Our bench has been really inconsistent as of late. We need them to step up and score points consistantly because this team is only a good team when everyone contributes.

That's a pretty darn good. Given the number of games where he struggled it feels good to know that he still retained some "allstar" stats.

I want Bosh to score 40 points in a playoff.:D

I watched the game half ass tnight and kept being surprised at how many points Bosh had. I'll be happy with stats like this any night.

Statistically, this is one of Bosh's best nights. Very good regardless of whatever. And he took it to the hoop.

Bosh scores a lot when he decides he's gonna go to the bucket...when he's not, then he's not much better than channing frye

I disagree... even when Bosh is jumper friendly he is still a solid threat. He should use his jumper. Today as the PERFECT blend of jumpers, and driving to the hoop.

He had a very nice blend of drives, and jumpers. This was vintage Bosh tonight. You can see his scoring potential on these 40 point nights, when he becomes aggressive.

You know, when Bosh scored 40 last season we celebrated like he'd just passed the 20,000 point milestone.

And when he gets 40 three times this year, with the season not even half finished, we say "wow, he did that. I didn't even know."

Our standards have risen a lot, mostly for the best. We're all looking for wins, first and foremost, and for Bosh to be effective, aggressive, and able to overcome tough, physical defense.

So 40 points against the Knicks or the Suns doesn't seem like much; the bigger issue is how he plays against the Nets or the Celtics. His playoff performance last year still stands as the nightmare scenario for him - being effective against bruising defenses is Bosh's real test now, not scoring against teams that are porous in the paint.

That list is lucky kobe's playing a complete team game getting the wins right now.... Or else he'd have like 10 40+ by now.

The thing with Bosh is that he's a really good free throw shooter so he has no excuse not to go to the rim on about half his possessions. Sure, shoot the ball, it is what keeps defenders honest against him (and he can shoot so it isn't like he misses 2/3 of his shots). But he could be a consistent 30 point threat if he went to the rim more because he has the agility to make a lot of 3 point plays or 2 free throw shots on plays that otherwise would have died.

I, too, am a fan of Kevin Garnett's play.

If he could only be aggressive and assertive going to the basket every game, he'd average 25 points a game. He's probably top 5 at getting to the line, when he faces up and is determined to get past his man, nobody can guard him. He could average 15+ free throws a night if he wanted, but it is a lot of work and lot of pain to get hit around all game, so you can understand how he settles for jumpers from time to time. He just needs to find a good mix between his outside shot and getting to the rim. I think he had some extra motivation tonight being in New York, seemed like he really wanted to dominate the ball and have a big game with the all the attention he's been getting lately. That's what superstars do, he needs to ask for the ball more and take over games like he did tonight a lot more often.
