PG Luke Ridnour won't be acquired by the Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors apparently have interest in Luke Ridnour but don't expect the Sonics to make any deal. Seattle appears to be a bad trade partner for most teams because it wants either an expiring contract or a younger player with upside.

No kidding. I suppose he's a half-way decent backup, but his contract is not small and at best we'd have to give up some of our depth for him. Plus, he's a bad shooter. If we're going to run pick and roll 90% of the time, a PG who shoots 40% from the field is a significant handicap.

Why can't we play Delfino at the point? Wouldn't a team with a very limited inside game jump at the chance to run some post-ups from the PG spot? If we brought out a line-up of Delfino, Parker, and Moon, we'd have a huge size mismatch against a lot of teams. Posting a good passer on a mismatch will almost always lead to a high quality shot ... I really want to see this happen if only for 5 minutes a game.

An interesting idea, something that the '00 Raps did, a big backcourt, VC/T-Mac/Christie ... But the difference is that Christie had no problems looking for his shot 2nd because he was a vet ... Delfino has always had a scorer's mentality and is still playing for a contract ...

Toronto should take a look at a veteran PG like Anthony Carter. He comes fairly cheap at 1 million, can run the offense, play defence, and most of all is a big guard. If Ford comes back Carter can slide to SG.

Ridnour's contract makes no sense whatsoever. None. Zero. I really doubt we had any interest in him. Even if we wanted him as a backup to Ford with the intention of trading Jose, you can acquire him during the summer when you know how much Jose will cost and if T.J. has lost any of his drive to play. Ukic would make a better, and much cheaper insurance policy.

Ridnour is not meant for our system we need a pg witha stroke and decent size who is willing to play 15-20 minutes for the time being

I find whenever Delfino is in control at the point (the few times that its happened), he does well to get the ball to the open man. He and Kapono I feel have great chemistry, and I wouldnt mind seeing Kapono at the 2 n Delfino at the 1 at times, and maybe have Graham in at the 3 to bring the that toughness and aggressiveness on the offensive end. I think Delfino could do a much better job at backup point than Martin n Dixon combined (not takin anything away from Dixon as he has shown spurts of bein decent at the point, but doesn't really know when he needs to get his teammates the ball, and when to shoot).

Ridnour??! no way we could keep Ridnour, Calderon, and TJ as Raps. If BC was actually interested, my guess is that quite a few teams have come knocking asking for Jose. TJ's trade value must have plummeted now that one more injury will probably force him to retire.

I agree.

If we're talking with Seattle, I hope it's about Delonte West. He's a combo guard with decent size that could play PG at times, and play alongside either Ford or Calderon as well.

This idea was dead from the get-go. It's not like BC is going to have 3 PG's on the roster, all signed long term and all making more than the MLE.

And after Jose re-signs this summer, that's what we'd have on our hands.

The fact that he's a horrible shooter that should never play SG aside, qith Atkins out,Carter is starting in Denver. So why would they trade him?

I doubt the Sonics will be looking to move him. Ridnour, Watson, Wilkins and Thomas will be the ones that Seattle will be looking to unload in Feb.

Watson would be a better fit in Toronto than Ridnour.

With Toronto shopping for another PG does this mean they have put a line through TJ? If not I doubt you guys would be after Ridnour or Watson, you'd be better off taking an expiring or smaller contract.
