Barring making a trade (because we can't know what Bryan may or may not have up his sleeve in that category) which of the following things do you think should be done immediately in order to improve the Raptors? (which is most urgent?)

Bring in a big man coach for Andrea

His future with this team is obviously not at the 4 due to Bosh, and when in the history of the league has a 7 footer played the 3? Unless we trade him, he needs to learn how to play the 5, and someone needs to teach him.

Where is the "All of the above" before the "Nothing" option?

I have the feeling that most on the board would vote at the same time on the first 4...

I am not sure how people have settled on this big man coach thing as the current out for Bargs, but among other things: how do you know he doesn't already have one?

You don't have to have been a big man to be a big man coach. Some of the best big man coaches in the game were never big men themselves.

I choose the option that you haven't listed. Put Bustanni on waivers so he can be waived out of the league. He needs to go back to Europe where he can be a star.

I don't see a big man coach as an out or excuse for Andrea's play. Far from, I'm extremely disappointed in Andrea. However, I do see such a coach as necessary given the disaster that has been Andrea's "development" so far. If he has a big man coach I've never heard it from any reliable source. If someone can prove me wrong on that please do.

Serious question: Do you ACTUALLY believe that he should be waived, can't do anything to justify playing in the league, and should go back to Europe?

Or is this just your version of hyperbole to either counter what you see as hyperbole in the other direction, and/or the degree to which his being picked first was wrong?

I believe that he is dogging it and didn't deserve to be put back in the starting lineup. The guy actually sulked when he was coming off the bench to the point that he wasn't giving his best effort.

If you got a player like that, there is no way that the other players are going to have any respect for him. In fact, when they see that lazy guy get put back in the starting lineup after the effort he gave off the bench they have to be shaking their heads. What happened to Sam's rule that your effort in practice and on the floor in games will dictate how many minutes a player gets.

Look the guy is built like Baby Huey. For Chuck to even say that Bargnani is a good athlete is like saying Charles Barkley is another Tiger Woods. Why Colangelo didn't draft an athlete like he did in Phoenix is beyond me.

In my opinion, any player that has the attitude of not trying if they don't get what they want can't be called a professional and should be waived out of the league

I think Andrea is depressed.

And if you read my thread about the Raptors Gala I worked at, he is also a social outcast.. which cant help his situation on or off the court.

We definitely need a big man coach for this kid, did you seen him in the post last night ?, it's like he made up his mind on what he was going to do before he did it and got NOWHERE with his move, against the weakest Defense in the league i might add..

I agree. Only if it were that easy. You can't just bring in a big man coach and think Bargs will morph into Dirk.

I think Bargnani is just a poor fit next to Bosh. Imagine an Al Jefferson next to Bosh instead, that would make much more sense.

Colangelo said when he drafted Bargnani that fans are going to have to wait a few years until he reaches his true potential. Last year we got a pleasant surprise that we may be taking for granted. Perhaps it's time to go back to what BC originally said and be patient.

He has skills. He shows flashes of brilliance that makes fans drool at the thought of him putting things together and performing consistently. Right now he is confused on the court and a general disappointment. He needs development. Where does that come from? Playing time and coaching . He won't be demoted to the development league because that would probably destroy his confidence, even though that would probably be best for everyone because he could focus on specific aspects of his game without the pressures of the NBA.

The limitations on practice time allowed for teams during the season makes it difficult to develop players through practice alone -- and practice is never the same as being on the court -- so they must have court time to develop. Right now it is clear that Bargnani is trying to improve specific areas of his game that haven't been his strengths in the past. He is dribble driving a lot more and is fighting for post position much more than last year when he was strictly a perimeter player. He has clearly improved in his ability to box out on defense and limit his fouls. There is improvement in many areas, but we all see his inability to rebound as the major deficiency, and the negatives are what most people focus on. Keep in mind that he is trying to do what the coaches tell him, things that he is uncomfortable with, since he would obviously prefer to shoot from outside. He will be a good asset for the team as he becomes more comfortable with all the other things he has been working on this year and can make better decisions on the court.

Remember, he was not a C before this year, so it is unrealistic to expect him to be good at the position when we are not even at the half way point in the season. Get him a personal coach and continue to give him playing time and it will eventually pay off. 2 steps forward, one step back.

Bryan needs to pick up the phone and call... Hakeem Olajuwon to be Bargs big man coach. Look at what Kareem is doing for Bynum in LA.

With Raps switching him to Center why didn't he play the summer league @ center or am I missing something
Also. I just don't get our pick.Barg's plays Bosh's position so why not fill another gapping hole instead of duplication if you are not planing a sign & trade?

Would the Suns if they had the 1st pick take a PG {even if he was the next Steve Nash} if they had glaring holes elsewhere s?
