What i am saying is that things are getting progressively worse. Currently the broadcast team is starting to question Bargs and that can't be a good thing. Its a slippery slope and it looks like we are about to go down fast
Maybe the slippery slope as you call it is more about balancing expectations and holding him accountable. It doesn't mean that one player on a winning team is singled out by the fans.
Does booing make a young player better, or make a situation worse?
I want him to succeed. It's good for the team.
Funny, he was +/- 0, so in the big scheme of things, he didn't kill us. Lamarcus Aldridge was -11, and was being killed on the Blazers board, called overrated and soft by some, a defensive sieve, and it wasn't the kind of criticism limited to the one game. That only goes to show you that young players have their issues, and while Roy may be the real deal, others are following different development curves. They have their ups and downs, and we're trying to make Bargnani an inside player this season, starting against the league's best, something he didn't do in Europe. Even last year he wasn't playing inside much, and certainly not against all-stars.
He's having to learn an awful lot, about rotations, about positioning, about how to hold position without fouling, about post moves. So much to learn that it's put a lot of pressure on him. And I don't know why, for a project of this magnitude, the organization hasn't hired specialized help. But tha'ts what it is and it does require some patience.
And even if you believe he's a 4, not a 5, and never will be a 5, and should be traded for a 2 or a 3, he won't have much trade value if fans start screwing with his head because we're frustrated. If you want to sell a house with defects, you hide the defects, you don't highlight them.
Unlike Hoffa, Bargnani, even this season, has delivered 20 point games and probably will a few more times this season, so it's hard not to see the potential.
Even yesterday, I welcomed his third foul on the offensive boards. A bit of aggression is good. I'm sure that of his three fouls, Sam was probably happy with that third one just as he was probably pissed with first.
