Let's Clean This Place Up: Team Effort

Hi guys and gals,

So yesterday while I was out there was some pretty ugly stuff happening on here, and there's been a downward trend for a while in terms of the general sense of decency and decorum around here.

First a quick note, since the suspension of a former mod does warrant special mention:

roy_jones_calderon was suspended yesterday for quite a number of vicious attacks on a few posters, and admitted he was basically asking for a suspension. I wasn't around to see it at the time, but it was ugly. I'm sad, because roy is a good guy overall, but his behaviour there warranted a suspension. He said himself he might not come back, so if he doesn't, its not because of the way he was moderated here.

Now back to the matter at hand - far too many people are insulting people far too freely around here. Debate someone's points they make - but there's no need to get personal. And its against the Forum Rules and Terms of Service.

So because people are having trouble behaving, we're going to have to be a little more strict to get things back to a reasonable level.

So I'm asking for all of you to help. If you see something objectionable, that violates the T.O.S. or goes against the forum rules, do both of the following:

1) Click the Report Button (the one with the !)

2) PM one of the mods who you've seen around (or me if you can't tell) with a link to page in the thread in question, and any comments you might have that will help to understand the situation.

If people do this, it will help us deal with these situations more quickly.

Do NOT try and take the situation on by stooping to that level yourself within the thread. Work with us, and we'll clean this place up faster and better.
