Has anyone noticed that Leo has stepped his game up?
I don't know if it's just me, but I think Leo's commentating is a lot better. He has toned down on the international talk, but he is talking more about the small things. More basketball.
For some reason, I am starting to prefer Leo over all of the Raptors commentators.

He has progressed a lot over the years. When he first started he used to have thin skin and got in to a pissing contests on air with his co-hosts. I have noticed that he has learned to laugh at himself. At one point he over did the laughing at himself, which isn't good either... but he seems to have a nice balance now.
Also as others have pointed out, lately he seems to be more in touch with joe average and is calling it as he sees it instead of the sell job that Chuck does.
I must admit he has grown on me.

John Saunders + Leo Rautins >>>>>>>>>> Any combination of Raptors commentators.
Not even close ... Smith and Jonsey are at the top of that list, they're not afraid to point out mistakes even after a win ... Jack, usually calls things as he sees them ... Chuck and Leo share the honours for last ... they probably have something in their TV contract that they can't overly criticize the team, probably for ratings purposes ...

I'm super cereal.
For the past 3-4 games, I have noticed that his commentating has improved a lot. He isn't going off topic as much as he used to, I mean he would always talk about Team Canada vs Team X or Team Y, or always asking Chuck to bring out his Salami.... and cheese. I mean, he has toned down on the funny, and improved on actually talking about the game.
EDIT: I agree, he is starting to call things the way he sees them. Like he just went straight out and called out Bargs and his lack of effort when it comes to rebounding a couple of games ago iirc. He said something along the lines of how Bargs is a 7 footer and he can't even rebound right, Although, he did it kind of in a joking manner, but if this were last season, I doubt we'd here anything. Maybe something like how the team has to work together to rebound, but I hardly ever hear him calling out a player. Of course I could be wrong and this could all be my imagination, lol. Buy yeah.... he has improved, especially from last year.

I would agree with that. Smith and Jones can be critical. They're balanced; they call what they see, I think.
Sherman Hamilton isn't bad too. I don't enjoy his style overall, but I think he can be critical when he needs to; which is maybe even more impressive given the fact that he's on Raptors TV not just the radio.

Totally agree. He's gotten better but I still like Jack more. I also think Chuck gets a lot of hate--too much. Tommy Heinson in Boston is the worst commentator I've ever seen. If you think Chuck is a homer, you haven't seen this guy. Yeah, Chuck has his things but he makes the game very exciting. He yells, he screams and you just love when he yells out "ONIONS BABY, ONIONS!". He makes the game a lot more exciting for those watching.
When I watch other games, while they may be more knowledgable, the game just isn't as exciting. Maybe, it's because I'm a Raptor fan so I find those games for exciting but I feel like Chuck adds a little more extra to the game. I watch one exciting game on TV and they just really didn't make a big fuss over the nice plays, they made it very dull. Chuck gets all reved up for every game.
Sometimes Chuck also has to play dumb to Leo and let Leo discuss something and act like "the new NBA fan". You have to appeal to all demographics.
I think I like the radio guys the most. I love Eric Smith. Paul Jones is also very straightforward. They are really good broadcasters. During the post game shows, they really say it as they saw it.
Chuck has his flaws--but he's really not as bad as people make him see.

I was thinking the same thing as I was watching the Blazers/Raps game.
It seems like he has improved lately. i dont know if someone at Head Office told him to tone down about the int'l talk and to be a TEAM with Chuck instead of always causing friction and being out to try to bother Chuck regarding His Bargs selection for ROY, his salami and cheese crap.. etc etc....
or maybe Chuck called him out privately.
or maybe he read a few of these threads.
I found his commentating enjoyable during the portland game... I was anticipating him calling out chuck all game long evetytime they talked about how good b roy was playing, and in TWO ots not once did he say.. NO SALAMI AND CHEESE YET!?!??!
They just seemed to have a TOn more chemisty Sunday.. well done guys.

Has Sherman Hamilton? Has Jack Armstrong?
Get real guys. Fine, you don't have to like Leo (just say it), but he is THE MOST UNBIASED of the crew, hands down.
Jones and Smith don't call out players. They talk a lot about the team's struggles which I think is the right thing to do. Sometimes flaming one guy isn't the right approach. Any moron can see Bargnani didn't play well, but I care about what they say about us running the offense, getting on the glass, Sam's timeout calling. More general team things. Those are usually the things that kill us. I've really never seen a game this year where Bargnani has costed us a game...

Leo gets more annoying with every passing year because he doesn't have anything new to say.
He repeats the same stories over and over, he repeats the same bad jokes over and over again and he gives the exact same analysis over and over again. He never brings anything original to the table and that's boring.
And his 'we're pretending to be great friends' goofing around with Chuck just makes them both look a little to phony.

LOL.
LIke you said right--getting on the glass is what killing this team. Bargnani the 7-foot pylon could definitely help the team's weakness thereby increasing their success of winning games.
