No, I don't expect him to win. What I'm wondering is what everyone thinks his chances of winning the MVP are provided he maintains at or near his play of the last week or so. Assuming he can average say 25/14 the rest of the way, and leads the Raps to 50+ wins, what are his chances?

I think those kind of numbers would put him top 3, but I'm not convinced he would still get MVP recognition.

His chances of winning the MVP over KG are the same as him winning the starting job in the all-star game over him.

The chances of Bosh being MVP this year is like the chances of Alonzo Mourning asking to be traded to Toronto. Its NOT GONNA HAPPEN! (AT LEAST THIS YEAR).

BTW, what makes you think Chris Bosh should be mvp, when half man and half amazing Vince Carter was never an mvp. That guy did everything for this franchise, he gived it his best and he was a human highlight reel each night, game in and game out.

The chances are the same as the Raptors winning the Atlantic and being number 1 in the east, which is what KG will do and win the MVP this year. Unless Raptors do better than the Celtics in the East then maybe Bosh has a chance... maybe but probably not because MVP selections are rigged.

Why, on a team with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, is KG automatically going to get the MVP?

if bosh averages 30/15 for the remaining 45 games, and raptors manage to get top 4 in the conference, then book it, so far only LeBron and Garnett are front runners, with Steve Nash, Baron Davis, and Dwight Howard are in the running (all imo of course)

If he averages 25/14 the rest of the way, he's definitely in the top 3. The chances of him averaging 25/14 are somewhere between 0 and 0.1%.

The Celtics are currently ranked number 1 in the league in team defense (and it's not even close). And KG is the anchor and biggest key to that defense, not Pierce or Allen.

We might also add that the top player on the league's top team is generally considered a front-runner for the MVP. Dirk won it last year, Nash 3 years ago, Shaq, Duncan, Jordan and many others in the past.

Chris Paul and Kobe Bryant should be on that list too. Paul has been considerably better than Davis and plays on a better team.

All good points, but again, Garnett went nowhere by himself. What has that team where it is is the Big 3, not KG himself.

Then again, he may win it just by virtue of the whole best player on the best team. What if they keep their recent slide up and Detroit outpaces them though? Does KG still win it?

This guy shouldnt even be starting on our team. MVP is not possible

Kobe Bryant
LeBron James

So he would need at least for all five of those players to drop off dramatically to win.

In other words...not gonna happen.

The only difference is their teams record. Like I said before if Raptors can beat the Celtics record and get first in the East theres no reason why he shouldnt be considered if KG is. Raptors win Bosh wins.

This line of thinking has always been incredibly flawed. Which great player went anywhere by himself? Why does this misconception continue?

LeBron, TMac, Kobe, Kidd, Ming, Pierce, Carter, Allen, Iverson, BOSH and KG have all missed the playoffs recently during seasons in which they were named all-stars. This only proves that no player, no matter how how good he is, can do it alone doesn't it? Shouldn't Raptor fans understand this better than anyone?

And look around the league? Duncan plays with 2 other all-stars. Nash plays with 2 all-stars. Shaq played with Kobe and then Wade on all his great teams. So why is KG now being penalized for playing with 2 other all-stars for the first time in his career? Magic, Jordan and Bird in their primes all played with other hall-of-fame caliber players on their teams too but they still won MVP awards and are considered great players. You seem to want to penalize KG for finally sharing the same fate.

And this season, aren't the KG-less TWolves are only proving how bad the talent was that surrounded him the past 2 seasons. With Jefferson basically taking his place, they're making a run at being the 2nd worst team in NBA history on pace for 11 wins. With KG last season, they somehow found a way to win 32 times.

Look at the difference in FG% and assists. Although BOsh totally owns KG in the 3pt department.

Not really a chance when a guy like Lebron is carrying Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden to a similar record as us. We would basically have to go on another huge run to finish the season like last year for him to be considered top 5 or 6.

Ridiculous question. There is roughly zero chance that Bosh will average 25/14 for the rest of the season - he is simply not a good enough rebounder to average 14 rpg over a 50 game stretch. 9-10 rpg is FAR more likely. There is also virtually zero chance of us beating the Celtics, or even the Pistons - we are a 3rd - 6th place team almost for sure.
Based on how Bosh and the Raptors can reasonably be expected to perform, I give Bosh less than a 1% chance of winning the MVP.

note: I'm not a hater - I love Bosh, I love this team, but I'm a reasonable/logical person, and your presumptions (Bosh at 25/14, Raps at first in the east) are far from reasonable.

I would replace Nash with Chris Paul. CP3 has played better than Nash so far and plus the Hornets are 2-0 against the Suns this season, with Paul getting the better of Nash.

Bosh is not in the top 5 but surely in the top 10 at least. I think the main goal of Bosh is to make one of the All NBA Teams this season and lead the Raptors to the playoffs. He was on the 2nd Team last year.

The first step would be to put up 25 and 14 against Detroit tomorrow and winning. If that alone happens I'll be shocked. VC always sucked the game after he won any award and Bosh did after he won last time if I'm mot mistaken. It's human nature to let up. If they win tomorrow and he shows up I move his chances to 3-4%.
