The Raps DO get respect around the league....

Everyone's always wondering if the Raps get respect around the league. Nationally televised games. Weekly power rankings. All star selections.

Watching tonight's game, and thinking about all games where we play good teams....we do get respect. These teams like Detroit don't sleepwalk against us. Our record against good teams sucks because they come out like it's a playoff game. No one is missing shots. Everyone covers his man. Against good teams, the Raps always look as helpless as they did in last year's playoffs.

I'm sick of this respect stuff....We don't deserve any respect right now.. We didn't build on last year the way we were supposed to... We're a soft team full of jumpshooters who wilt when the other team intimidates us physically.. we also have no semblence of a defensive system, and a very streaky cast of shooters, plus a questionable coach... Why would ESPN and TNT be lining up to show us on tv? To watch us jacking shots and leaving people wide open? I actually think we're overrated now, since we begged so hard to be given respect last year after being a joke for so many seasons...

In reality what we are is a slightly above average Eastern conference team that is made for the regular season... good enough to beat the lower tier teams, but not good enough to seriously challenge the upper tier ones on most nights... We don't have the defense nor the neccessary star power to carry us deep into the playoffs...Our lack of rebounding, toughness, and most importantly, talented capable players is seriously hindering us in our attempt to become an elite team...

"These teams like Detroit don't sleepwalk against us."

I got the feeling that they were for half the game. The same thing happened in the first meeting as well.

I don't think the other teams played well against us. The Raptors just play bad against them (the good teams). Failing to take advantage of opportunities and not converting on turnovers or when the other team goes on a drought is an indication that it has more to do with the Raptors sucking against good teams.

We don't, though; this year we have wins against the Spurs, Blazers, Rockets, Hornets, and Mavericks, just off the top of my head.

We're a good team, not a great team... good thing is, though, that we are also a young team that will get better with time... if our players were as old as Detroits and we were playing the same ball, then I'd be disappointed... if we make the playoffs and win our first round series, that will be progress for this team (expecting anything more is just ridiculous at this point)
