Player positioning on O vs D

Post#1 » by cdel00 » Wed Jan 16, 2008 6:04 pm

There has been discussion about players playing certain positions on the floor and how those positions are not natural for the player. I would love to hear ideas regarding dynamic positioning (playing a different position on offense than defense).

I am thinking that Player X who is playing position Y on offense may not defend the opposing player whose also in that position Y when it is favourable for Player X to guard someone else.

For the Raptors starters:
The point I am trying desperately to communicate is let Bargs play the 3 on offense and defend the more physical of the (4,5) on the other team. Bosh plays the 5 on offense and defends the less physical of the (4,5) on defense. Moon plays the 4 on offense and defends the more athletic of the (2,3) on defense while AP plays the 2 on offense and the less athletic of the (2,3) on defense. PG playing the PG unless a switch is a must.

An unusual system for an unusual team.

Thoughts?
