Raptors' First rounders

With alot of teams and the media have a certain perception of us. All different with either we are a good team, a bad team, a soft team.. the list goes on. I often wondered what the perceived value of our first rounders often bring. I know that a higher pick would often garner more and vice versa.
What do you think our perceived value of our picks protected and unprotected?
So we finally we have rid ourselves of the dreaded Lamond Murray trade where we shipped out our first rounder. The hopes was that Lemon would have stepped up and gave the raptors that edge we needed in the playoffs.
Back to our time. Now we are in a situation where we came off playoff year. Atlantic division champions. We are in a position to be back in the playoffs once more.
Do we trade our pick in order to bolster our roster?
Can our protected or even.. *gulp* unprotected first rounder net us that player with the possibly of developing into our second option?

I don't see a 1st rounder in the 18-22 range getting too get much by itself.

giving up a first rounder can haunt a team forever. I remember the Vancouver Grizzlies gave up a 1st round draft pick for Othis Thorpe. It was such a bad thing, because that draft pick was used in the 2003 NBA draft, where the Grizzlies could have gotten Wade, Bosh, Anthony.

We cant trade away picks in successive years....so unless we aquire one its pretty hard to discuss trading ours away...but I imagine we will be in the 18-22 range as previously stated

With TJ and Jose already on the team . . I'd much rather have Beasley . . he would definitely help out our rebounding

Traded first round draft picks for role players is never a smart idea, if there was a big trade the Raptors were looking to complete say they were adding a Shawn Marion impact type player then throw in the first rounder and get'rrr done, but for someone who would also help the Raps like Maggette but who isn't nearly as good as someone like Marion then I would think that keeping the first rounder would probably be a better move...

Personally I'd like to see us keep the pick and draft Chris Douglas-Roberts. He's a solid scorer who likes to drive, plays pretty good d, and should be available at around when we're picking.
