Bosh Needs To Re-Gain Leadership

Post#1 » by Sprite Zoner » Wed Jan 16, 2008 9:24 pm

This is my opinion purely, and I hope most of you see where I am coming from.

I think one of the most pivotal steps last year was when Andrea was getting outhustled and outworked, Bosh screamed at his face when the Raptors called a timeout. He let the rookie know that now he is playing with the big boys and he needed to step his game up.

Not only did we see Andrea grow at that exact moment, he also made a couple great plays afterwards. The most important thing that happened though, was to see Bosh grow as the Raptors leader and Captain!

It seems this year Andrea has played so poorly at instances, he is gaining the reputation of a soon to become bust. Bosh has monster games but his passion is only to himself.

The Raptors are so inconsistant and no, it is never too early. I think one of the main reasons is because Bosh has to step it up vocally and start challenging his teammates.

We need to bring this group together, to become tougher and stronger! Sometimes even the hard way.

That's a total different topic. This is for Andrea's sake, and Bosh's too.

33pts/game for a week doesn't dictate that you need to regain your strong leadership form you previously had. He just needs to be more vocal, more passionate not only to get himself going, but to get his team going. To push them.

Push them to, say a 3-0 record last week and then showing his leadership by singlehandedly silencing the hottest team in the NBA in double OT?

The hottest, still young and inexperienced Portland Trailblazers that is! We can't beat the Suns, Pistons, etc etc.

And it's not that we CAN'T beat them, it's that were SCARED! This Raptors team doesn't have that edge or closeness that they had last year. Not yet anyways. What ever happened to pushing your teammates for them to do better? Everyone here knows exactly how good it felt when Chris was screaming at Andrea last year that instance.

This year, it's like we are accepting lackluster effort. Why? Not sure.

I'm not so sure that the effort is lacking, I think it is more that the team doesn't have a solid identity.

Perhaps some of the players being more in the face of Andrea would help (such as CB4), but I think Andrea is being asked to adapt and change into something pretty new for him and he is obviously having a real tough time getting there.

I think this team feels the pressure to live up to expectations created by their great run last spring ... the players don't need Bosh screaming at them, they get down on themselves too much already.

Once they've had a good run though some of the easy part of the schedule and gotten some of their collective confidence back, Bosh can take the intensity up a notch. Right now it would do more harm than good.

The excuses for bargnani just seem to never stop. Now Bosh is the reason andrea is struggling.

No, it's probably because we're not as good as them. We're not as good as the Spurs either. Yet somehow, we still beat the defending champs on their home floor last month.

Simply put, those teams are contenders for the title. We're not.

We were a perennial lottery team just 2 seasons ago. Now we have a young team that is still rebuilding but not yet an elite team. Besides all that, one of our top 2-3 players hasn't played in weeks. People need to have patience while BC continues rebuilding this team, enjoy the fact that at least now we have a competent management team and a bright future to look forward too and not put expectations on them that they can't possibly meet.

I guess it's Bosh's fault Andrea is not playing well. What else can we throw on his plate. Not only is he responsible for his own play, but now he has to get every player going. I know a good leader brings the best out of his teammates in sport, but at what point is Andrea responsible for his own play. People want to keep blaming other's for his troubles, he's the one most responsible for it.

I guess Bosh is a selfish player all of a sudden, only looking for his own stats. Do people even watch this team and the games before making rediculous comments like this?
