They were mostly found by Calderon, who had 14 of those assists, giving him 1,001 for his tenure in Toronto, adding his name to a list that includes Alvin Williams, Damon Stoudamire, Vince Carter and Doug Christie as the only four 1,000-assist guys in Toronto franchise history.

This team has long defended its status as pacifists; hard fouls aren't in their makeup. But hard dribbles to the hoop shouldn't be too much of a stretch. Mitchell, who's been preaching it long enough, was heartened to see a little progress last night, even if more is required.
"I had to threaten Jamario with taking him out of the game if he didn't drive, and he drove, and he dropped the ball off to Chris for two free throws," said Mitchell. "We've just got to keep encouraging guys to do that."

Win or lose, good game or bad, Bosh at one point in his post-game discussion brings up the need for the Raptors to be more aggressive going to the basket.
Bosh has heard that from Day 1 from Raptors head coach Sam Mitchell and has heeded that advice far more often than not. Too often though he has been a gang of one.

Yesterday the question that set him off was the standard: "Any changes to the lineup?"
Mitchell reacted like a member of his family had just been insulted and then quickly went on the offensive.
"We're 3-1 in our last four games," Mitchell said. "The last time I checked the best you can be is 4-0. Unless you guys have some ideas how you can get better than that, I'm open to suggestion."

Wow, we finally outrebounded a team.
I was at the game last night, and let me tell you, the boos (though slight) were floating after Andrea missed 3 of his first 4 attempts or so.

We remarked, Here comes the Boo Birds when that happened.....you can tell alot of fans are holding back alot of discust with Bargs...
I as well was frustrated but decided booing players on SAC was more advantageous to the cause, and wish other fans would do the same

not really sure why Leaf, er, i mean, Raptor fans have the need to boo Andrea.
they booed him for missing shots. I admit that a few of the shot attempts were forced and not great shots, and those shots should be questioned. but he was booed for taking a deep 3 with 2 seconds left on the shot clock - that is not boo-worthy.
and the best way to boost a player's confidence is by booing them when they are making the smart play and taking a shot, but missing that shot.
i really wish these booing dummies would stay at home and boo their tvs instead. i'm betting they didn't watch the Raptors during the Greg Foster era - one of the few eras where boos were indeed worthy.

Mitchell then asked for quiet and mocked the fact no one had a suggestion for him.
"Do you all hear that?" he asked. "I actually know something, that you all don't know.
"I have to savour this moment. What time is it? Six minutes to six on January 16 that I actually know something the media doesn't know. I'm amazed. I should just get on my mule and ride off into the sunset because I know something you all don't."

To be honest with you, I think the fans at the ACC have been more than a forgiving of Bargs. He's being saved by the half decent record. If these were the bad old days, he'd have been booed senseless by now for his glaring stupidity. He's turning into a seven foot, less athletic, worse rebounding Joey Graham. Think about that for a minute.
Fans are entitled to show their displeasure and the ACC crowd has given AB a ton of breaks. Unfortunately for Bargs, patience eventually wears thin when athletes don't perform..

But to be fair to Mr. Kurtz, you're absolutely right! 7 footers should gravitate towards the paint. It's just unfortunate that Bargnani is allergic to the paint on the offensive end or when an opponent is attacking the basket. He likes it fine when he can stand there all on his own. Isn't there some rule against that somewhere? No matter, the special 7 footers like him don't have the responsibility of rotating on defense... ever. But honestly... even if you accept this answer, how do you explain the 4 different false starts towards a player that was already being rotated to by someone else? Must be that strategy you were talking about.
Face it, it wasn't a zone that caused his foolish response. It just took him 7 seconds to realize that there was a switch. Or perhaps he realized immediately, but it takes a second per foot for the message to reach his feet.
Oh and P.S. it didn't happen just once. But you should really blame Sam: after Bargnani screwed up the rotation the 4th or 5th time, he pulled him out of the game! THE NERVE!
Keep apologizing for the kid though. It's not his fault he refused to learn to the point that the coach stopped talking to him for a month. Some of you who dubbed AB the franchise savior are having a tough time eating crow. But it's about time you stopped acting like Bargnani himself. Headcases don't improve. Grow up and accept your deficiencies.
