Is it too much to ask for Raptors broadcast crew to show the game when the ball is in play? I'm getting tired of them running replays or showing someone sitting on the bench when the ball is in play.

I think yesterday they did it tree times. We missed the dunk by Bosh, when they decided to show replay of Calderon lay up. A couple of other times they decided that we would rather see payers/coaches on the bench. Maybe I just don't notice but do any team broadcasts do that? Insane. Chuck if you reading this, looking for people to sue then do something about this.

I agree 100%. However, they cut to the mop girl for a nice stretch...that was nice

The cameraman made up for it when he showed a 18 second close up of mop girl last night.

Calm down people, lol ... the Raptor broadcasts are leaps and bounds better than last year in my opinion, in terms of everything from actual HD broadcasts to better graphics to even commentating. Besides, we may have never seen Sam Mitchell swear at the refs the other day in Detroit, hahaha ... priceless.

Yeah I agree, That was stupid. cut into Chuck and Leo face time for that crap, not the game.

Also, Raps producers, if your going to get rid of Norma, fine. But the whole set up of Full Court press sucks. I think your producer, "Dan" is suffering from Michael Gilman envy from Regis and Kelly. It sucks when the show is moderated from the control room. Pay a host for god sakes. I'm not sure what the budget is from Raptors hearbeat or X's and O's but if you cut those and improved double dribble, and full court press, It'd be a better station IMO.

But is it so hard not to show replays when the ball is in play. They have been doing this from the start of the season and lately it is getting a lot worse. The guy running this part should be sacked for being such an idiot.

Chuck won't do anything about it, he's constantly praising the production staff. I wouldn't be surprised if they're mostly hockey fans, and you know what puckheads usually say - "You only have to watch the last 2 minutes of a basketball game".

I turn on my dish and tune to the opposing team's broadcast, tune to the Raptor broadcast on cable, then with remote in hand, whenever I sense they're going to miss something, I switch over. I've been doing this for years, and it seems to be getting worse.

During halftime, I end up watching the other team's show. Adnan Virk showing hockey hilites is not my idea of a halftime show.

Much as we complain about the announcing sometimes, the production staff is worse.

The 'fine men and women in the truck' missed 5 of the first 18 Raptor points last night because of their ineptitude. That's 27% of the points up to that point. Then we missed more baskets later.

When you watch games from other teams and you almost never miss a basket.

RapsTV production crew is one of the worst in the business.

You're right. In fact, Chuck has mentioned that on his radio show.

During Raptor games and production meetings, production guys like Paul Graham are more likely to be talking about the score in the Devils/Thrashers game than they are about an NBA game.

I always find myself cranking about how when they show a replay, they have to show nearly the entire possession! Why not just show the exciting part and let us watch the game you morons! It should be a cardinal rule of broadcasting - If the ball is in a player's hands, show the freaking player!

The Sacramento broadcast last night was a thing of beauty by comparison (IIRC they've won some Emmys or some other award). Professional, mature, no attempts to create mock-drama out of Theus's substitution patterns with close-ups on the bench, even though that could have easily been the "story-line" of the production. That gets to the core of what is wrong with the Raptors broadcast - it's not content to let the game be the story. They feel the need to gussy it up. It's to the point where I prefer watching the crappy, out-of-sync streamed games to the ones I can watch on TV... /rant

The Raptors game production is terrible. I've never seen a broadcaster that suffers from a consistent inordinate amount of technical problems like the raptors broadcast crew.

Don't worry guys, I'm working up the TV ladder. I'll direct or produce the games eventually, and I WON'T cut to a replay.

what do they do?

they show this stupid, quasi-animated version of the dunk which takes away from how amazing the dunk actually was.

i feel like i'm watching the Home Shopping Network back in the 80s (that horrible stop-go broadcast)

That stupid grain they put on all the highlights? its almost unwatchable.

So we missed ( I think) three hoops and possibly a block . .. they were doing an overly long closeup of someone on the bench and the crowd went nuts, then the Raps had the ball. Whatever it was we won't know . . .

Somewhere there is a director that is watcing multiple screens - there should be no excuse to stick with a replay when the game is going . . .if the clock is running they should be showing it.

They would NEVER show replays during play in a hockey game.

As for the replays, thats the producer's responsibilty apparently.

Yesterday was the worst it has been in a ling time. We were even commenting about it in the game chat. Terrible work.

At least 3 times in the 1st quarter, they missed a play because they were showing a replay or focused on someone on the bench. Its annoying, it happens way too often.
