Realistically, who could we trade Calderon for?

Post#1 » by alfie123 » Sat Jan 19, 2008 2:55 am

Now before you begin flaming me know that I love Calderon and by no means should we trade him.

But who do you think we could get in return for him?
Dont start with saying things like LeBron or D12

Somebody like Josh Smith?
Better?

what do you think?

I also don't see us trading Jose anytime soon.

BUT..... yes, Josh Smith seems like a logical trade. But with Moon playing well, and Delfino/Kapono.... where are the other SF minutes going to come from?

Calderon can be dealt for a ton of good players...

Teams that might need PG's.. (players I'd look at)

Cleveland- Anderson Varejao and Daniel Gibson
Miami- Dorrell Wright and Jason Williams
Washington- Antonio Daniels and Brendan Haywood
LA Lakers- Andrew Bynum?
LA Clippers- Corey Maggette?
Atlanta- Josh Childress, Zaza Pachulia, Shelden Williams, Marvin Williams
Denver- Linus Kleiza, JR Smith
Phoenix- Boris Diaw or my favorite (Kapono for Banks and Skinner)

Only desirable guys there are Marvin Williams and Bynum, but the Lakers would never do that. We MIGHT be able to steal a Marvin Williams though depending on how desperate the Hawks get for a PG...but he seems to be a KEY cornerstone to their team

The rest of them would not make a difference at all and aren't even worth it for Jose.

Perceived worth is useless without the salary to match. To get a player at another position worth what Calderon gives us at the point is impossible until he gets a good contract. Right now his play vs. his salary are too far apart. We can't get good return on our investment with him, so these threads are pretty pointless IMO.

Hawks GM is absolutely obsessed with Marvin, same way BC is very high on Bargnani. No way they give him up. They''d rather give up Josh, though he basically anchors their entire defence. I wouldn't be surprised if he would give up that much of their defence to marginally improve their offence with Jose.

Atleast he has a reason to be obsessed though. The kid can play.

Cleveland - lol
Miami - lol
Washington - lolllll
Lakers - no, Bynum is untradeable; Calderon alone is not sufficient
Atlanta - Marvin Williams would be enticing; lol at the others
Denver - lol
Phoenix - lolll

I don't see us trading Calderon really... I hope bargnani gets traded so we can stop bashing the kid. he is just not good in our system. I believe Colangelo is a smart man, and maybe trading his #1 pick may hurt his ego, but what must be done has to be done. If calderon gets tradedm whose going to be our PG? Ford is too much of a injury liability.

Why would we want to trade our starting PG for the next decade. TJ will be retired in 2 years, it would be suicide for this franchise to lose him when the chances of Ford lasting to age 30 in the NBA is virtually nil.

Um, Bynum, that's all from that list. But the Lakers would never do that, ever.

Daniels, Kleiza, Wright, Childress, Zaaza, Shelden, Diaw and Jason Williams: Is this some kind of sick joke? If so, I'm not amused.
